I do not own Final Fantasy 7 or the song Sarabande. They belong to Squaresoft and the classical music composer Georg Friedrich Handel.

Inspired by Stanley Kubrick's 'Barry Lyndon'. Interesting movie that was.

Sarabande

By Charles Xavier

The Shinra mansion was dark in the noiseless air,

The room lay dormant with the vampire asleep,

The wind blew softly crying in despair,

Lucrecia…..Lucrecia……how the Turk mourned in weep,

For no longer he felt his tender heart with care,

His life all shattered yet his psyche still fell deep.

In dreams……..

The young ninja girl smiled in extreme ecstasy,

Another hard day's work of acquiring a new prize,

Lights were dimmed in her house and she drowsed away pleasantly,

Illusions overwhelmed her, 'tis not a surprise.

Sarabande echoed, through the ears of her tranquility,

Opening her eyes, her location she would realize.

In dreams…….

The ballroom glittered, pure beauty and no less,

Guests all dancing, on the marble plated floor.

Still she sat lonely in her white silky dress,

She was like a fairy of light, with the crystal jewellery she wore.

An express of sadness was unleashed from the girl in distress,

Until a gentleman appeared out of the large open door.

He wore a black suit and possessed a smooth stick in his palm.

The servants took his hat, his hair was shaken out.

It hung past his shoulder blades, past the back of his arms,

The guest looked intriguing, he was neither thin nor stout,

His eyes glowed like ruby, so quiet and so calm,

She gazed at him in amazement, as he looked around and about.

It was then that he approached her while searching through the crowd,

For a girl to dance with, he couldn't find his type.

Until he saw the timid girl, out of the others who were nothing but too proud,

He stood in front of her. His choice was made right.

She raised her head and glared into his eyes.

What a glamor it was, what a splendorous sight.

Her face turned red when she blushed in fear,

Yet the man's open hand was presented to her in pure passion.

She watched further onwards as he took his hand near,

To her white gloved hand, and kissed it with soft action.

"May I have this dance?"

She paused in astonishment, her face no longer red.

A smile surfaced her face, her eyelashes shone with pleasure.

She rose from her chair, and was led to the dance floor ahead.

At the center they stood, they held hands together.

Sarabande played on, its tune so soothing,

The two danced on, they wished the dream would never end.

In the endless waltz they felt themselves moving,

Through the light's thin rays from which the chandelier would send.

But soon the music stopped and the ballroom ceased proving,

Its existence no more, it vanished and went.

They unlocked their sealed eyes and rose from their beds,

The sun shining bright, outside the captivating sky.

Yuffie Kisaragi rubbed her eyes, the dream was now dead,

She could no longer remember anything, she gave nothing but a sigh.

Vincent Valentine thought of his delusion, nothing could be said,

For he understood none, that once concealed his naked eye.

End

I'm putting 'Labyrinth' and 'Nothing' on hold indefinitely. I really don't know when I can continue them. Because right now I'm making preparations for the remake of Catalina's 'Sink To The Bottom With You' (I have permission from Cat) with my crew (we're still waiting for that story to finish though).

Anywho, please review! ^_^
