Disclaimer: I don't even try to lay a finger on claiming anything. Tolkin
is the master. This is just a little person's thoughts on what might have
been going on it Sam's head when he finds he must take the Ring.
Diary of Sam Gamgee:
My master has fallen. That Stinker, Gollum betrayed us. I knew he would. My good, trusting master had too much faith in him. We walked right into his trap, and that horrible spider creature has killed him.
Now what to do? I wish I could simply lie down and follow him. I have followed him for so long, how can I continue without? If only the world would end right now. Then this whole mess with the Darkness and that cursed Ring would end. Perhaps I may see my old Gaffer again, and the Shire, maybe see Rosie Cotton.
Sam Gamgee, you fool, things are hopeless but you must do something. Master Frodo has given what he had, and you're thinking of your warm Hobbit- hole. But what's the use of wishing for that when you're here?
I wonder what has happened to everyone else. Something's telling me that the Quest must go on. But no ones left but Sam, and he's the last one who could finish. Gandalf, where are you? How could I take the Ring? I'd get it all wrong. But if I leave It, then things could take a turn for the worst for everyone if the Enemy finds It. Didn't Gandalf say that It has a way of being found? I can't leave It. I can't leave my master. But if I don't, the Darkness will win. Gollum will win. Everything good like the Elves, Strider, Gandalf, the Shire, and Lothlorien will be destroyed.
Master Frodo, you've given up so much, the best thing I can do is finish what you began. I will, and when this is finished, I'll come back and I'll never leave you again, even if Sauron himself comes down. Forgive Sam if he messes things up. May the Lady watch over you until I manage it back.
Good-bye my good, kind, loving master.
