Wind Beneath My Wings

Duo and Heero are at the bar on Friday, Karaoke night.
"Hey Heero, lets go sing a song. I don't want to sit here all night. Common lets go. Pleassseeeeeeeee."
"Which one do you wants to sing?"
"oh oh Bette Midler."
"Who?"
"Bette Midler, a popular singer from the 1980's. My favorite song by her is 'Wind Beneath My Wings' can we sing that one please, please, please?"
"ummm ok."
"YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!. Ok, ok, you stand there and look at the screen for the words. I already know them all. You can start."
"Alright."
The music started and Heero stared at the screen nervously, waiting for his cue. He looked over to see Duo swaying to the music and instantly he didn't feel so nervous any more. It didn't matter what other people thought of him singing or anything else they might think. Duo looked up in shock as Heero started singing the words without reading them off the prompter.
"It must have been cold there in my shadow,
to never have sunlight on your face."
Duo stared at Heero as he sang in his rolling tenor, disbelieving of Heero's beautiful voice.
"You were content to let me shine, that's your way."
"You always walked a step behind."
Heero walked over to Duo and took his free hand with his own while staring into the deep violet pools of Duo's eyes which were currently swimming with emotion as he continued to sing.
"So I was the one with all the glory,
While you were the one with all the strain.
A beautiful face without a name for so long.
A beautiful smile to hide the pain."
Duo held Heero's hand tighter not wanting to let go while he sang purposely- changing words to his liking.
"Did you ever know that you're my Heero,

"It might have appeared to go unnoticed,
but I've got it all here in my heart."
Duo let go of Heero's hand and pointed to his heart.
"I want you to know I know the truth, of course I know it.
I would be nothing with out you."
Heero grasped Duo's hand again and pulled him close enough to circle his arm around Duo's waist then continued.
"Did you every know that you're my hero?
You're everything I wish I could be.
I could fly higher than an eagle,

Duo joined Heero to finish the song.

The two boys stepped off the stage as over half of their audience stared at them, leaving the stage holding hands with a tear in their eye (thought Heero probably wouldn't admit it) and a new love in their hearts.
