Fire's Dance
I light a match,
And watch it glow.
Why is it so mesmerizing?
Why does it bind me so?
The sparks leap,
Up in the air,
The fire rushes at me,
Pursuing my dare.
Fire's Dance,
That's one I'll not miss.
The way it flickers and flames,
Its warm, gentle kiss.
The fire moves so confidently,
Pushing up to the top,
It knows it's the best,
For nothing will it stop.
Fire is 'the great destroyer,'
It burns and burns without treason.
So why do I treasure it?
Could this have no reason?
Fire's dance,
That's one I'll not miss.
The way it flickers and flames,
Its warm, gentle kiss.
The match burns down,
The fire goes out.
It reaches my fingers,
Yet I do not shout.
The room is dark.
My flame is gone.
But I still feel the heat
I've felt all along.
I light a match,
And watch it glow.
Why is it so mesmerizing?
Why does it bind me so?
The sparks leap,
Up in the air,
The fire rushes at me,
Pursuing my dare.
Fire's Dance,
That's one I'll not miss.
