~This is the second version of my not so happy poem....told in first person as opposed to the third person view of the first version. The first version is used in my story Give or Take, and this one will by used in the sequel to it.~
2nd Version of Illusions
I used to think I knew you
Used to think I was in love
You were all that I wanted
All I dreamed of
The days went by with magic
Floating in the air
No matter where I looked to
You were always there
But hope is an illusion
And wishes don't come true
All my foolish dreams of love
Turned to stone with you
I walked home that night
And saw you there alone
But something was not right
Your eyes, they looked like stone
I just held you close
And murmured "I love you"
But you pulled away
And I knew it was true
Hope is an illusion
And wishes don't come true
All my foolish dreams love
Turned to stone with you
The time had come too soon
I knew we didn't have long
Our missions tore us apart
But we were brave and strong
I nodded and somehow
Managed not to cry
But believe me, baby
This time I had to try
And hope is an illusion
And wishes don't come true
All my foolish dreams love
Turned to stone with you
The love in our eyes
Slowly went away
Our missions called for stone
No emotion that could stay
We looked for one last time
With emotion showing through
Our promises were the same
I knew someday I'd be with you
So maybe hope isn't illusion
Wishes just might come true
'Cause all my foolish dreams of love
Still remain with you….
