Bamboo and lace around me lie,
Elusive smells of sandalwood.
A breeze plays in the summer sky,
Stars piercing darkness' hood.
A crescent in the sky, the moon,
Almond eyes aglow,
A river running soft and clear,
The cricket sings so low.
Come to me, my love, my bird,
Serenade me as the dove,
My lips are soft; my breath is sweet,
How tender is my love.
