It was happening again. The dream, of coarse.
' Why can't they leave me alone?'
The peaceful silence only broken by sobs every few moments. It was so dark and cold. He was all alone. The pain that he felt was excruciating, and every so often a soft 'plip-plip' could be heard, which were recognizable as tears hitting the ground. The sobs grow louder, and words were distinguishable.
" Akane. All alone. Akane's gone. I'm all alone. There's no one to help me. I'm sorry, Akane…"
The sobs kept growing and growing, and the blackness began to lighten, and a boy appears. His raven hair was pulled into a pigtail, and he was wearing Chinese-style clothes.
Tears streaked down his face and came to land on the figureless floor, which he was laying on.
A sob racked the boy's body and suddenly another boy appeared standing over the crying one. He was an exact copy of the latter, with the exception of clothes. Instead of a red Chinese shirt, there was a silk, midnight black shirt that flared at the wrists and rolled up a little. On the chest area was a silver crescent moon. His pants were long and matched the shirt for color, and on his feet were black slippers.
The boy had a tired expression on his face, and for a moment, a golden moon was visible on his forehead.
Then, his face was broken by a slight smile, which he gave the crying boy.
" Don't worry." He said, and his voice stopped the sobs for a few moments, but then they continued on, strong as ever. The boy knelt next to his double in a graceful move, and he continued.
" You are not at fault. There was nothing you knew that could defeat him in time. Do not cry so."
The crying one looked up at him, his blue-gray eyes clouded with tears, and he shook his head.
" But if I had defeated him in time, then Akane and Pop and Shampoo…" More sobs wracked his body. " It's all my fault, it's all my fault, it's all my fault."
The midnight clad boy sighed. Apparently, he was growing impatient.
" Dammit, snap out of it! There was nothing you could do. Your memories were still clouded, and they held the only way to defeat him quickly. Quit crying over nothing you could have stopped. You have something you need to do, so stop sulking in your own little world and do your duty."
The crying stopped abruptly.
" You bastard! There're dead and it's all my fault. I can't be responsible for anyone, especially for someone I don't even know! Just go away and leave me be!"
The other looked like he had been slapped. His face distorted in anger and he stood up.
" Fine, you wanna do it that way, idiot? That's it. I tried to let you come into gradually, but the princess needs you and I'm not gonna let anyone hurt her."
A mark appeared on his forehead that glowed golden. " This is really going to hurt." And then a force hit him so hard he woke up.
