Blast From The Past Series: History Repeats Itself
Notes: Just FYI, I don't know where this installment fits into the whole series I have in my head. Ask me later. It probably comes after another fic that is as of yet unfinished in written form… gomen nasai! Anyways, read and review, and I'll try to get everything else up in order.
Chapter One: On My Own
Trowa pulled into the parking lot, and unconsciously parked in the spot that would most easily facilitate getting out in a hurry. The Gundam team had fallen to ruin since they'd gone forward* in time. Duo spent his time with his sister, Quatre was always at different parks around the city, Wufei had joined a dojo, and Heero was who-knew-where. The advantage to being by himself was that he could do anything he wanted. The disadvantage, though he would never admit it, was that he hated being alone. With the restraining bonds of the war and their Gundams left behind, the other four guys had each gone their separate ways. Trowa had never really lived in a city, so he wasn't really comfortable there. For the most part, he just stayed in the apartment that they'd rented. The other guys, mostly Quatre and Duo, tried to draw him out. They'd taken him to the mall a couple of times, which is how he'd found out about the Air Cadet program.** The first time he'd been there he'd shocked himself by buying a light blue lottery ticket from a pretty red-headed cadet, and the second time shocked himself again by promising to visit the next time they were parading. So here he was, sitting in a parked car with his eyes half- blinded by the setting sun. And he realized that he wasn't so unhappy to be here, just curious, and somehow expectant. It almost reminded him of his mercenary team, before the raping started, of course. Trowa shivered, not wanting to remember those times, them climbed out of the car. He walked into the building, noise assaulting his ears. It sounded like a school playground, though there were only three or four blue-uniformed cadets standing in the foyer. Trowa approached one of the taller cadets, and asked after Mrs. Linit, whom he had been told to speak to. The cadet directed him down a side hallway, and went back to his conversation. Trowa raised an eyebrow, wondering briefly if all new recruits were treated this way. He made his way down to the end of the hall briskly, found the door marked "Recruiting Office" and knocked. No one answered, so he knocked again. He heard someone behind him and forced his hands to stay loosely at his sides away from the weapon concealed at the small of his back. It didn't matter though, because a second later he heard a female voice address him by his first name.
