Midnight Battle at the Fountain of Dreams

The Fountain of Dreams.
How so many longed to see the much fabled wonder.
And yet only a few had managed to find this secret haven that hovered high above Popstar.
But those were only the denizens of Popstar. When a few 'foreign' visitors visited the region Kirby was called out to stop the mayhem…

Kirby landed on one of the platforms of the sacred fountain and surveyed the surrounding area.
'All seems quiet… but… I sense someone…'
All of a sudden a huge boom was heard and a boy with a baseball cap and a striped shirt stood across from Kirby.
A pipe appeared on the platform above Kirby and a short chubby man in blue overalls and a red hat with the letter M stood.
Then a small red and white ball flew onto the fountain and after a brief flash a yellow mouse looking creature appeared.
'Or several people…'
3… 2… 1… Fight!
'What the heck?!'
Kirby didn't have time to think, the kid with the baseball cap charged for Kirby and brought out a large bat swinging.
Kirby dodged quickly as the kid swung and jumped over his head smacking it as he flipped.
"Who are you?" Kirby yelled out as he dodged another bat swing.
"Not that it matters but the name's Ness!" Ness pulled out a yo-yo and smacked Kirby back with it.
The other two combatants, who we know as Mario and Pikachu, were smashing each other around with fireballs and lightning attacks.
"It'sa me! Mario!"
"Pikachu!"
"It'sa me! Mario!"
"Pika!"
"It'sa me! Mario!"
Pikachu shot out a huge electric blast into Mario's body, sending the plumber flying off the screen and exploding in a flash of light.
The yellow mouse turned around and headed towards Ness and Kirby.
Kirby and Ness were doing flips around each other when the pink puff felt a huge jolt of energy course through his body.
"What was that?"
Suddenly a yellow blur flew past Kirby and smashed into Ness.
"Aiyahhhhhhhhh!" the boy screamed as he flew through the air.
Kirby rolled his eyes. 'These guys are killing each other, it's like no work for me, heh.'
"Pikachu!"
Kirby was about to grab Pikachu and pile drive him when Pikachu suddenly backed up and put his arms up.
"Pikachu! Pika! Wait! Don't fight me!"
Kirby backed up confused.
"Who the heck are you people and what do you want with the Fountain of Dreams?"
"It isn't us who want to come here, its something else, urging us and inciting us to fight and destroy each other. You haven't been affected yet and it seems I'm back to normal. But there's going to be more of them appearing any moment so I think it would be good if we teamed up and defended this fountain. It's truly beautiful and it would be a shame to have it defiled in any way."
Kirby raised an eye.
"Yeah ok but you better not pull any funny stuff."
Suddenly a blue racer like vehicle pulled up at a platform and a man wearing blue stepped out and did a salute.
"Show me the moves!"
An egg flew onto the other platform and a green lizard-like creature popped out.
"Yoshi!"
Kirby and Pikachu turned to their new challengers.
3… 2… 1… FIGHT!
Kirby sighed. It was going to be a long day.
Yelling, Captain Falcon and Yoshi jumped high into the air towards Kirby and Pikachu.
Yes indeed. It was going to be a loooooooooooooong day.
