Disclaimers: whee, cliche time! and the song comes from the genius minds of The Wilkinsons.
One Faithful Heart 1/1

With a sigh, I shut down the computer in front of me, leaned back in the chair and stretched lazily. These late nights are really starting to take a toll on me, but since this a new job to me, there's not much I can do about it. Too much to be done, and not nearly enough time to do it all.
Time, it goes so fast
Like a river running past
And you're lucky if you find at last
Just one faithful heart
I cleaned up the mess on the table as best I could, stood up and stretched once more. Walking back into the bedroom from the living room, I can't help but smile as I see all the blankets and sheets lumped together around a figure in the middle of the bed.
So I watch her as she sleeps
All curled up in her dreams
Somewhere beneath the quilt and sheets
Gently beats one faithful heart
It's been three years since I married her, and I love her just as much as I did back then, if not more. Everything tastes better, smells better, and looks better since she came into my life and stayed by my side.
I gingerly sat down on the edge of the bed, being extremely careful not to wake her. Not that any movement of mine would wake her up. Unlike me, she's a pretty heavy sleeper, and not even a hurricane could bring her out of her dream world. I wake up to the slightest noise or the simplest of dreams. How I envy her that she always gets a full night's rest.
As constant as the morning star
And as sure as gravity
Her love makes me complete
Makes my life so sweet
It's funny really, how we managed to end up together. I mean, who knew that after all our constant bickering, we would fall head over heels for each other. All of her friends and some of mine were just as surprised as we were at first, but it was almost as if they expected it to happen.
Leaning back on the bed, I catch a glimpse of her long hair peeking out from under the covers. Bright beautiful blonde hair shimmering in the moonlight that filters in from the window. It shines just like the rest of her personality. Such a change from the way my life used to be. She'll never know how grateful I am for that.
This night will slip on by
Soon she'll open up her eyes
And I will see the light that shines
From just one faithful heart
With one glance at the clock, I know that the night is nearly gone, and soon she'll be awake. I can just imagine what she'll do when she wakes up. First she'll blink her bright blue eyes and couple of times to get used to the morning light, then she'll roll over and whisper in my ear to get me to wake up. I love it when she does that. I look forward to it every morning.
I live to see that light that shines
From just one faithful heart
I love her, and she loves me back. What more could I ask for?
