"Blacks! Left flank is open! Kill anything with more than two legs! Go! Go! Go!" the Sergeant ordered. "Tomaka! You and Smith hold down the bunkers!"
"Yes, Sergeant!" Tomaka yelled.
The squad of marines moved away from the bunkers and climbed over the ridge from view. Shots from their Impalers could be heard and the screams over the radio of the dieing men. Smith shuddered.
"How many days has those friggin' aliens been after this planet?" Smith asked, keeping his eye on the outside.
"Close to year now," Tomaka answered in his oriental accent. "They very formidable."
"Damn rights they are," Smith concurred. He was about to speak again when a leg of some alien flew over the ridge. It landed right outside of the porthole the two black-colored marines looked out of. "Well, in number anyways."
Smith heard a hissing sound and turned around. Right outside the rear porthole was an alien. It was taller than both the marines and had a serpentine body with a huge frill across it's head. It's jaw hung open as it puffed it's chest and a set of spines popped out. Tomaka reacted first by opening fire with his rifle and started pounding rounds into the thing's exposed chest. Smith followed suit and eventually the alien slumped to the ground, hissing faintly, then it was completely silent.
"Sergeant Bic! Bic!" Tomaka yelled into the radio. "This Private Tomaka!"
"Private! Get out of that bunker! They are all headed that way!" the Sergeant screamed over the radio.
"A little... too late?" Smith said.
Outside was a pair of these huge aliens. They had a pair of blades twice the size of the marines themselves on their frontward limbs. They also had four big and thick legs, an incredibly big turtle-like shell. They started to move slowly towards the bunker when both Tomaka and Smith got their senses back and opened fire. Most of the rounds just hit the shell or the legs, and the rest didn't even hit the things at all. The aliens got close enough to thrust their blades into the bunker and one spread it's arms wide and thrust the blades into the bunker sideways. It went straight through the bunkers neosteel with ease.
It also went through Tomaka's head with ease.
Smith curled up in the other side of the bunker and tightened up into a corner. He debated on firing but that was out, he would give his position away. That didn't matter anymore anyways because a spine of some kind thrust itself from under the ground and into his back. He felt the searing pain for a minute, then another blade came from another direction and went straight through from his midsection, up.
