And with that promise, Sergewen started scouring the forests of Mirkwood
every chance she had, hoping and waiting for a glimpse of an elf.
One day, she finally got lucky. While fishing in a secret golden lake, she espied a young-looking elf slip into the water. As Sergewen did not want to be seen, she quickly murmured the fish-changing spell her father [Beorn] taught her, "Hellewise Earth Mother, I wish to be a Fish!" Not exactly the best poem ever, but it works.
As Sergewen swam toward the youth, she saw he was well built, with a pale silver gleam about him. He had golden hair, and strode about with the air of a noble. (a/n- BTW, Sergewen's name is pronounced Sarah Gwen)
When she got to the boy, she found that she recognized him from her dreams. Her dreams of a husband; the love of her life.
When Sergewen popped out of the water next to the elf, she could tell by his yelling in elvish, "You shall pay for this, young human!" that he was surprised.
Sergewen , who knew elvish, whispered back to him, "Milord Elf, This is the beginning of loveā¦."
