under the stars
the sky was a spectacular display of blue, silver and white lights set against the dark background of velvet blue. the moon was nowhere in sight, however, the night is not dark as you would expect in a night void with the usual yellow light cast by the moon. the stars are ablazed with their fires they seem to keep within thier bodies, only to be unleashed on nights like this.
her brown eyes sparkled as they roam the night sky. the wind blowing through her long black hair, much like a raven's wings taking flight. her pale pink kimono blowing in the breeze as she shrug her apron off her body.
lifting her slender arms she let the cool night wind enveloped her body. the wind pushing her petite frame from all sides, she felt weightless against the insistent currents.
"i wish i can fly", she whispered to the night
shaking her head, she felt warm tears run down her cheeks. her outstretch arms slowly falling at her sides as the wind continue to push against her.
"but i can't, i can't even leave here"
slowly she slid down to the cold grass, she continue to lay there staring at the sky. she remember the time when she would always wish on stars, hoping for them to come true.
all she had hope for is a chance to get away.
a chance to be free
one chance for a new life away from all of this
but difficult as it is to comprehend, she is now beginning to accept the fact that she can never be free.
this is her destiny.
after all, she is to be married in a few days.
smiling ruefully, she shook her head. "i could have done great things", she thought sadly
her tears continue to flow down her pale cheeks, as she closed her eyes.
"if only i have given the chance"
she remained in silence, letting the night hide her and her emotions from the world.
"tsubame-chan," yahiko shouted breaking into her thoughts "tae-san needs you at the akabeko now"
tsubame sat up, wiping the tears from her cheeks. Gathering her long black hair she tied a piece of string to keep it from her face. she looked around for her apron, which is nowhere to be found.
"tae-san would not be pleased that i have lost one of my aprons again", she sighed as she made her way back to town.
sadly she gazed back at the river, one thought entering her mind.
"i should have jumped earlier...."
