Chapter 4 (Katie's POV)

Just With A Few Lyrics Of A Song

That was the last straw. Fred and me are over.

I dressed quickly, knocking on the door of the boy's dormitory. Unfortunately, it was Fred who answered the door and not George.

"Oh, it's you." I snapped coldly.

"Mmmm." He replied, looking hurt. "It's me. Yeah. Boring old Fred who took a wrong turn and couldn't turn back."

"You never explained to me why you went off with Angelina. Did I do something wrong?!" I asked in an icy tone. He let slip the chorus of the song he was singing last night, but, this time, as he said them, it meant something. I knew it meant something, but I didn't know what.

"Never had a dream come true, till the day that I found you, even though I pretend that I've moved on, you'll always be my baby. Never found the words to say, you're the one I think about each day, and I know no matter where it takes me to, a part of me will always be, with you." But he didn't say it to the song. He just recited the words. He was staring up at the ceiling with tears in his eyes. "You didn't do anything wrong. It was – it was …" But he turned away, going back through the dormitory door, and emerging came George.

"Wait, Fred! Fred! Hang on! I want to speak to you! Fred --!" But he slammed the door shut. I chewed my lip and George gripped my shoulder.

"Come on. We'll be late for Transfirguration. McGonagall isn't a patient woman." I nodded, and felt hot tears prick the back of my eyes. And then I knew the meaning. I knew it. Fred wanted me back.
