Vaughn's POV

I watched her go out the door, tossing me a sweet smile as she left. I breathed a sigh of relief and leaned against the wall, thinking about what she'd said.

"We sort of…dated." Dated. Obviously I knew what that meant, but how serious were they? For how long? Sydney hadn't offered details, and I hadn't asked. Besides, didn't they discourage against 'fraternization among agents', or whatever the new 'no-dating' rule was called now? The CIA certainly didn't approve of it. It had to bring back memories, seeing your ex for the first time after five years. I wondered why they'd broken up.

I closed my eyes and rubbed my forehead distractedly. Why did I care, anyway? It wasn't as if the questions I'd been asking myself bore any relevance to the case. But I decided to do a little extra searching on Agent Hicks, just in case. I wanted to comfortable with Syd and him working together, but I couldn't….
