Disclaimer: I don't own in any way, shape, or form, Harry Potter! The song
is by Five for Fighting. It's called Superman.
AN: Listening to this song just made me think of Harry.
1 Superman
Harry looked up at the many dusty shelves in his bedroom that held things that Dudley had broken throughout the years. He noticed some of the same things that he always had: broken TV, books, and the bent air rifle, but he also noticed a long antenna sticking up from under a pile of magazines. He walked closer and peered down to look at the foreign object and smiled at the sight of it. It was a radio.
"Maybe……If I just work with it." He said to himself, attempting to pick up a radio station. "There!" He heard music start to play and lyrics………lyrics that made him think of himself.
I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
I'm just out to find
The better part of me
I'm more than a bird…I'm more than a plane
More than some pretty face beside a train
It's not easy to be me
Wish that I could cry
Fall upon my knees
Find a way to lie
About a home I'll never see
He turned up the volume and strained to hear the words that were being lost in the static. He straightened the antenna and the lyrics came back to him.
It may sound absurd…but don't be naive
Even Heroes have the right to bleed
I may be disturbed…but won't you concede
Even Heroes have the right to dream
It's not easy to be me
This was exactly the way he felt. Everyone thought of him as a famous hero who had it easy, but none of them really knew what it was like to be Harry Potter, but Harry didn't dwell on this thought. He would not feel sorry for himself. He would need strength and courage for the dark days ahead and feeling sorry for himself just wouldn't cut it. He paused in his thoughts to hear more of the song.
Up, up and away…away from me
It's all right…You can all sleep sound tonight
I'm not crazy…or anything…
I can't stand to fly
I'm not that naive
Men weren't meant to ride
With clouds between their knees
Harry wanted to turn the song off. He really did, but he couldn't seem to make his legs walk towards the radio, couldn't make his arms reach for the knob on the left side. The emotions this song was bringing to the surface were almost to much for him to handle. Harry couldn't help it. He listened intensely again.
I'm only a man in a silly red sheet
Digging for kryptonite on this one way street
Only a man in a funny red sheet
Looking for special things inside of me
It's not easy to be me.
He tried to stop them, but he couldn't. There was too much emotion bottled inside of him screaming to break free. Finally he gave up…..and let the tears flow.
Well? Whaddya think? Okay? Did it suck? Please review!
