The Mystery Teacher

Harry, Ron, Hermione and their fellow Gryffindors were walking into their first Defense Against the Dark Arts class of the year. It was the second day of their fifth year at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. All of the students were curious about the new teacher. For as long as Harry had been at Hogwarts there had been a different teacher every year. There were even rumors that the job was cursed. Everyone was dreading that the potions teacher had finally gotten the job. It was common knowledge that Severus Snape, the potions master and head of Slytherin house, wanted the job. Luckily as the group of students walked in they saw, not Snape, but an old woman. Everyone began to whisper. They had never had a female Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher, and this woman looked like a strong breeze may carry her away. Harry was the only one not whispering. He was staring at the woman. He thought she looked so familiar but he couldn't think of who it could be. Then the teacher started to talk, " Everyone, find a seat and be quiet." The 5th years did as she said and waited impatiently to find out who she was. Once the woman saw that everyone was sitting she introduced herself. " I am Arabella Figg. I will be your teacher this year." Harry gasped and then noticed a slight smell of cat. This was old Mrs. Figg who had babysat him when he had been with the Dursley's. He remembered how she used to bore him with stories about her cats. He had no idea that she was a witch, and obviously a good one to be teaching at Hogwarts. Harry couldn't wait for class to be over so he could talk to Mrs. Figg.
