"No Scully I refuse to wear these red rhinestone pumps to your party Friday night!" Mulder exclaimed to Scully when the door suddenly swung open. A crazy looking petite blonde wearing a professional looking suit walked in. You could tell she had something on her mind. Agent Doggett entered the room soon after.
"She came in asking for you two." Doggett explained. There was an awkward silence as Doggett caught Mulder red handed waving rhinestone pumps in the air. Mulder threw them aside and welcomed the young woman to sit while Doggett left the room.
"My name is Ally McBeal and…" she leaned in close to Mulder and whispered, "I have reason to believe that there is an alien trying to kidnap me. I catch it spying on me all the time."
Where a normal person would be either hysterically laughing or running for their lives, the professional Dana Scully asked, "What evidence do you have of these aliens?"
Once again she leaned in closer, only this time to Scully and whispered "When I wear my foil hat of glory I intercept their communications… THEY PLAN TO BLOW UP THE NETHERLANDS!" She had suddenly raised her voice to a booming volume without moving away from Scully's face. Scully recoiled in surprise as Mulder inched his chair away.
Ally McBeal slowly backed down into her chair. Still surprised at McBeal's sudden explosion, Scully gathered her thoughts together. The only thing she could think to say was " Foil hat of glory!?"
"Yes, I use it so the aliens can't read my mind from outer space. I put a little antenna thing on it because I thought it should look more fashionable and whatdaya know, I heard the aliens." She replied in such a way that it seemed quite a shock to her that Scully didn't know of her mind blocking technique.
"All right…" Scully began but Mulder was already cracking the case. He remembered five years ago when he had another case EXACTLY like this. The woman seemed to be insane just as this Ally McBeal person is acting claiming aliens are conspiring against her. When suddenly he remembered something. He needed to talk to Scully about it in private.
"Um, why don't you go wait with Doggett while we speak in private. Don't leave we'll be right back with you." Mulder told Ally after turning to face her. She nodded and walked out the door.
"Scully I remember a case like this five years ago. The woman acted exactly as this woman is. Then before we could even file her report she disappeared. We don't want history to repeat itself."
" I remember." Scully then jumped up and ran to her file cabinets. She furiously went through the files until she came to the one she wanted. "Look," she brought the file closer. "What's the name on this file?" Mulder leaned in to look.
"It's the file from five years ago. We must have filed it after she disappeared…" Mulder's eyes found the name. "McBeal." The two Agents looked at each other and ran towards Doggett's office.
