The day had been an especially long one. Last night none of them had gotten any sleep because of the special night mission Lydecker had send them on. While this didn't particularly bother Max or Jondy, it made the rest of them especially tired the next night.

Zack immediately crawled into his cot and drew the thin sheet up to chin. He was about to fall asleep when Eva's soft voice woke him up.

"I wish we could see the outside world," she said, staring at the moonlight falling through the window next to her bed.

"Soldier, go to bed," said Zack, turning onto his side.

"But wouldn't it be better, Zack, to leave this place. Leave everything behind?" Eva persisted, looking around the barrack's. Zack sighed; he had to admit, Manticore wasn't exactly the good life, but it was the only one they had ever known. He barely knew what the outside world was like.

All of a sudden he heard the rustling of sheets on a bed, and he turned to see Max shaking violently. Zack jumped out of his bed and Tinga and Jondy quickly followed. Zack grabbed Max's hand and held onto it until the shaking subsided. He knew her seizures were getting worse, which made Eva's comment about escaping from Manticore seem even more fresh in his mind. They all knew what happened to a soldier that couldn't function, they were taken and put down in the basement with the nomolies. None of them had seen it happened, but Ben had told them stories about it, and they believed it will all of their heart.

Jondy's pale blue eyes stared into Max's as she said, "Are you ok?"

Max nodded her head slowly, to weak to do anything else. Seizures took all the energy out of her, and since she was the youngest and smallest, they influenced her the most. Jondy stayed by Max's cot the rest of the night, Jondy had never needed half as much sleep as the rest of them, and it was no trouble for her to stay up the whole night.

Meanwhile, Eva went over to Zack's cot, and Jondy could tell they were discussing something serious. Zack's face was frowning and Eva's was pleading. Must be about outside world, Jondy thought.
