A/N: Ok, so songfics are notoriously bad. But I couldn't leave this one. I thought the song fit perfectly. Written around 07:30, so I was tired, too. This is not my usual, but Dizzy you have warped my mind. Still not converted though!

I entered the room
Sat by your bed all through the night

Sam stared down at the picture in her hand. Her last picture taken with Daniel. They looked so happy. A tear fell down Sam's cheek and onto the photograph. He was gone. Gone. No matter how many times she told herself that, it just wouldn't sink in and she refused to believe it. Sam ran her hand across Daniel's face in the picture, memories of the good times they spent together rushing back.

So I won't be so far away.

Maybe you'll find me someday.

Sam led back in bed, keeping the picture with her. She held it close to her and squeezed her eyes tight shut, fighting back the bitter tears that threatened to flow.
You just faded away
You spread your wings you had flown
Away to something unknown
Sam didn't know what hurt most; that Hammond had refused to retrieve the sarcophagus or that Jack had been the one to stop her father from helping Daniel. She had had no say in the matter, and now love had been pulled away from her, ripped away, torn away like nobody cared.
Wish I could bring you back.

You have your special place in my heart.
One person cared. She knew that. And that one person was Daniel. He cared for her. He had been the only one to truly understand her. Sam couldn't bear to be away from him any longer. Sliding her hand beneath her pillow, she pulled out the small gun that she kept there, and lifted it to her head.

As Sam pulled the trigger, her last tears ran across the lifeless cheek. She knew deep down that they would soon be together. Forever.
