"Well, mother, I don't see how that's any of your business," Annabeth gasped out, still having Shel's attention under the table,"Can you please just come back in like, ten minutes?"
The Goddess of Wisdom shook her head,"No, can't trust that Son of Poseidon one bit, who know's what his intentions are?" At that I noticed that Athena glanced at me, with an indistinguishable look, then promptly turned her attention back to her daughter,"I'll stay here until you two finish your food and have showers," she then pulled out Pipers abandoned chair and sat down.
The next few minutes were very awkward, as Annabeth and I ate our food as quickly as possible while being pleasured by Piper and Shel, and all parties wishing Athena would leave for literally a couple of seconds. As gods started to appear, one at a time, some with demigods, some alone, I began to feel this lump starting to form in my throat, this weight of nausea and concern I hadn't felt in a while, as I saw three familiar old ladies standing a few feet away from the base of Zeus' empty throne.
Before I could dwell on the feeling a series of images overcame my mind. I was old, probably in my late seventies, and dying, but I seemed happy, and stared at a picture that rested close to me, then I was dead, and I was being placed on a funeral pyre, hundreds of people surrounding the presentation. The images weren't new to me, but the fact that they were blurry, and somewhat flickering, were new.
I was shaken out of my thoughts as I heard laughter filling the air, as my friends were all joining us in out small island of chairs. As always, all of the seven were here, bar my boy Jason (for the most regrettable reason), there was also Thalia and Reyna, along with Clarisse, and also Nico, who had arrived with his father. The laughter had been caused by what I assumed to be a rude remark made by Thalia towards Annabeth's pride in her work, as the daughter of Athena was blushing in a way she only did for Thalia, while our friends revelled in her embarrassment.
With a crash of thunder, the God of Ruining People's Lives, Zeus, appeared in his throne, his arms spread wide, and a communal groan filling the room at his late arrival. The King of Olympus looked as though he were about to make a speech about respect, or something of the sort, when his wife rested her hand on his side and calmed him down before he got over-dramatic. Or more so at least.
After a long, drawn out huff, Zeus' booming voice echo'ed throughout the hall,"Heroes! It is an honour to have your company!" even with he didn't seem to believe his own words, but he continued,"For many years you all have sacrificed many things for Olympus, and some of us Olympians believe that you all require some form of compensation for your deeds, and after a year of consideration, we have come to an agreement for you all, so, without further a due, we shall begin.
"First, my daughter, Thalia Grace!" the God of the Sky proclaimed, a proud grin forming on his face as his daughter stood in front of him,"You lead the Hunt with great skill, and have grown to be a powerful and ferocious young woman, but you have suffered many losses on this path. When we first discussed your reward, I begged my fellows to allow your brother to return to us, but as he is peacefully at rest in the Isle of the Blessed, I thought it cruel to steal him from that. But, we came to another conclusion, that is also beneficial for you. So, Hades, would you present my daughter her gift?"
Hades smirked at the request, and flicked his wrist, summoning multiple columns of shadows, that formed into humanoid shapes. After a few seconds I saw very familiar people in the shadows as Zoe Nightshade, and Bianca de Angelo, who now seemed to be a few years older, stood before us all, happily alive.
Thalia, the demigods, and I all sat in shock, some of us knowing what was going on, others not but being able to guess. Not Nico though, he bolted out of his chair, crying out,"Bianca!" as he flung his arms over his sister, the two of them crying into one another's shoulders. A few moments passed, and the two calmed down, while Thalia took Zoe to an empty chair to talk quietly, when Nico chuckled and asked,"Why the dad are you older?"
"I thought it would annoy you if I came back older than you," she replied. After a few more seconds, the pair of them seemed to realise that they were being watched and went to sit at their chairs. As they took their seats, I watched as Bianca bowed in the direction of Artemis, who seemed to be holding back tears.
Zeus cleared his throat once we were all seated,"Yes, quite lovely, but now we have many more to go through. Ares, if you would?"
"Frank, Clarisse, front and centre!" the God of War ordered his children, who did as they were told immediately,"You two are fine warriors, and great leaders for your camps, and you both deserve the best for your lives to be happy, so... Frank, you shall no longer be tormented by the threat of your curse, as you shall be rid of it, and you will also have a new magical bow given to you by Apollo from his personal collection, along with becoming the immortal guardian of Camp Jupiter. Clarisse, you shall gain a new, unbreakable spear, a long with military authority on Olympus, as well as a special gift, look over at the Goth God again!"
Hades seemed far less pleased this time, and summoned forth another column of shadows, that revealed Silena Beauregard. Clarisse, while at first appearing annoyed at not having an emotive speech, grew to look immensely pleased as she ran over to her long lost friend and grappled her in a hug. Frank meanwhile sat down in shock, relief taking a moment to fall over him.
"Artemis, it is your turn now," Zeus guided.
The goddess, who was still recovering from finally having two of her hunters back, sat upright and cutely looked around surprised for a few seconds, then turned to us."Reyna, as your mother is not on the council, I will gift you with something I believe you have wanted for a while. After many discussions with your sister, I have decided to unify the Hunt and the Amazons."
"Thank you, milady," Reyna bowed, a grin adorning her face as she sat back down.
"Aphrodite," Zeus was already getting bored.
"Hehe, Piper honey, can you come up front please? Bring Shel up too," the two of them stood in front of the goddess, Shel looking utterly terrified,"Piper, you are one of my favourite daughters, as you fully understand the true meaning of love. And it is because of this understanding of love and your power of Charm-Speak that we won the war against Gaia, so, after much deliberation, we would like to make you a minor goddess and Shel your immortal bride!"
Despite Aphrodite's excitement, Piper looked terrified, and Shel looked like she was going to faint, but then the two of them looked at one another, and seemed to have a conversation with only their eyes, then Piper said,"Thank you mother, I would like that very much, but can you please give us a while for the whole brides thing?"
"Oh, of course darling!" the Goddess of Love cooed,"Now could you both sit down and we'll do the ritual at the end."
Once they were seated Zeus called out,"Athena."
"Annabeth, could you please stand up front?" she asked. The Goddess of Wisdom emitted an aura of pride that seemed to rival Annabeth's as she watched her walk to her feet,"You are the brains behind many plans that have won the past wars, the Architect of Olympus, and the Keeper of Daedalus' designs. A wonder of the world in my eyes and many others, I offer you the same gift as Piper, to be a minor goddess."
I stared on in shock, as Annabeth froze for just a moment, then looked back at me, then at Piper and Shel, then back at me. After a few seconds of just staring at me she finally spoke,"Thank you mother, it would be an honour." She then sat down next to me again and whispered,"If I'm being offered that, imagine what they'll give you."
That got me thinking.
"Hephaestus, your son," Zeus groaned, he was bored quite marvellously after only a few minutes of not being the centre of attention.
Leo was already walking to the foot of his fathers throne before he had opened his mouth. The God of Smithing nonchalantly queried,"You were the one who defeated Gaia, so do you like the idea of being a minor god son?"
"That depends, can I keep Festus?" Leo joked.
"Yep."
"Then deal!" Leo answered, running back to his chair.
"Hades!" Zeus bellowed.
The God of the Dead gestured for Nico and Hazel to walk forward, then smiled warmly at them,"You both did so much for the wars, and have lost so much of your lives to them and others. Nico, you are the Ghost Prince, the boy who convinced a sorry bitter god to fight for his brothers, and the man who got the Athena Parthenos to Camp Half-Blood. Hazel, you channelled your curse and your mothers magic to defeat Medea, you tamed Arion, and protected your fellows on your voyage to Greece. You are both my pride, and with each of your actions you make me feel alive, and I thank you. Hazel, in keeping with the theme of today's gifts for the seven, you shall become a minor goddess, and have your curse removed. Nico, I offer you the title of Prince of the Underworld, and godhood as well."
Hazel bowed in acceptance, and sat down, but Nico stayed standing, then looked at me, then Zeus, and finally his father,"I'm sorry dad, but I'm gonna have to pull a Percy, cause I want to live a life with Will and be happy with him for a while, at least until the next war comes around. But I would like something else," he turned to Zeus and bowed,"My Lord, I humbly request you give my father seat of the council, along with Lady Hestia, they deserve it."
Zeus pondered this for a moment,"Hestia shall get her throne," he sighed, and looked at his brother,"And you have been very helpful in recent years. Okay, I'll give it to him!" Just as he said it, two thrones appeared, one made of logs, kindling and fire, while the other was made of dark stone and was adorned with skulls. The two gods who these belonged to sat on them quickly, and thanked Nico as he sat down.
"Pulling a Percy? Is that a thing now?" I chuckled as he sat down. Piper looked as though she wanted to say something dirty to my words but was interrupted by my father.
"Percy Jackson! My son! Step forward!" My father called out.
I did as I was told, walking slowly to the foot of Poseidon's throne, watching the pride filled smirk on his face grow wider with each of my steps. "Father."
"My boy, you have achieved more than most, you have battled everything, from the lowliest of monsters to the great Minotaur, you have fought gods, both minor and Olympian. You defeated Kronos, Gaia, and you killed most of the Giants in the war. You have gone through Tartarus. And you have denied godhood once before, but now we shall make you an offer that you cannot refuse. Brother?"
"Perseus Jackson, we offer you the title of an Olympian!" Zeus bellowed, a crash of thunder following his words.
"P-p-p-pardon?" I spluttered.
"Son," my fathers soft voice spoke,"You will be given the title of an Olympian, and be given the domains of the Fates choices, as long as you accept."
I looked over at Annabeth, who sat agape, but then caught my eyes to hers and nodded,"I'll do it!"
We had to wait a few minutes, as the gods had some "very important business" to attend to, which translated from god to demigod into "Zeus is giving a self indulgent speech".
I, like many of my friends, paid the God of Lightning little thoughts though, as I focused mainly on my friends, who were all sharing the same terrified expressions, as the realisation of what some of them were about to be given sunk in. At my side, Annabeth was leaning into me, shaking from her nerves. All I could do to help her was hold her close, and hope that Zeus would stop talking.
He never did.
It got to the point where during one of his squabbles with Hera about an affair he'd had some time in the past millennium, most of the gods had began to shrink down to mortal size to converse with us.
My father was quickly remarking on how he was so proud of me, informing me of all the father/son bonding experiences he had lined up for the next century. I didn't focus on him, instead I made sure Annabeth was okay, but she was talking with her mother excitedly, so I was reassured. I looked over at Piper and Shel, who were talking to Aphrodite, who appeared to be encroaching on Shel's personal space, and the mortal had no idea how to react to it. Checking on the children of Hades, they were having a great time with their father and each other, getting caught up with one another or acquainted.
Just as the energy was feeling positive, a loud thunder clap filled the room. "Really! Interrupting a meeting for personal conversations? I expect better from all of you!" Zeus bellowed as all of the Olympians sat back on their thrones,"Anyway, to start us up, Frank Zhang, Son of Mars, step up to the Fates!"
Frank awkwardly stood up and approached the three women, and waited for a moment before a beam of light shot from each of their hands straight into his chest. He didn't react to it for a moment, only turning around to face our crowd, and showing that his body had this soft glow to it that slowly faded,"All Hail Frank Zhang!" cried the Fates in unison,"Caesar of New Rome!"
There was a short applause, and then Piper and Shel were called forward. Shel was done first, and she had a similar glow to her following what the Fates did,"All Hail Shel McLean! Future Bride of Lady Piper McLean!" That got a blush from the couple. Then Piper was filled with the light, but when she turned around, her eyes glowed pink, and she had a powerful aura around her,"All Hail Lady Piper McLean! Minor Goddess of Affection, True Love, and Polygamy!"
Oh shit.
A few of the demigods glanced at Piper in confusion, and Shel looked like her beat red face was about to explode from all her embarrassment. As the couple sat back down all I could think was,"Dick move, Fates. Dick move."
Annabeth was next, and she too was filled with the light, and her eyes glowed a blinding white, and she had a powerful aura, and I just stared at her as she glowed with all this new power. The Fates spoke,"All Hail Lady Annabeth Chase! Minor Goddess of Architecture, Strategy, and Cunning!"
After my girlfriend it was Leo, and as he was gifted godhood, fire erupted from him and his eyes emitted it for a few seconds after. "All Hail Lord Leo Valdez! Minor God of Fire, Engineering, and Puns!" proclaimed the Fates. Upon hearing the last domain, Leo cheered excitedly, while everyone but Apollo groaned.
Hazel was next, and her golden eyes became a vortex of gold upon her new power gift being given, she also seemed to grow slightly. "All Hail Lady Hazel Levesque! Minor Goddess of Jewels, Illusions, and Curses!"
All eyes were on me once Hazel sat down. I was next, and the Fates were waiting for me. I stood up and walked slowly to meet them, the images of my self as an old man almost completely destroyed. And the Fates were oddly smiling at me as I stood before them.
When the light hit my chest I saw my whole life flash before my eyes, and I felt my body grow stronger, and larger, until I was the same size as the Olympians, and my eyes glowed a deep sea green. As I stared at my now godly form, the Fates all chanted,"All Hail Lord Perseus Jackson! Olympian God of Tides, the Earth, Time, Natural Disasters, Heroes, Loyalty and Warriors!"
The room was silent.
Earth and Time.
Both of them.
From where I stood the first face I saw was Zeus', and he looked like he wanted to smite me. The next person of note I looked at was my father, who was giving me thumbs up with a smug grin. I turned to look at my friends and they all stared at me in awe.
Next to Hades' throne, a new one sprouted from the ground. The one had hour glasses for armrests that met with a backrest that was a sheer stone slab carved to look like roaring waves. From a quick glance I could also see that the base the new throne had carvings of heroic deeds throughout history across it. It looked really cool, and upon a quick glance from Athena, I sat down in it.
Zeus did not look happy, probably because he had just given me, the person he hates most in the world, the powers of his two greatest enemies, added to my own. He scowled for a moment, but upon realising everyone was waiting for him he sighed and boomed,"All new gods shall have palaces designed by Annabeth, and their construction will start immediately! Until then, do what ever, I don't care!" He then flashed away, and was followed by his wife, and a majority of the council.
Most of my friends were being taken home by their parents, apart from the ones of us who had become immortal. Some of the gods approached us and offered temporary lodging until we had our own palaces constructed. We were all grateful and each of my friends were being taken to their parents houses, when Annabeth and I encountered a conundrum.
We were both being offered to stay at our parents palaces, separately, and we hadn't really slept alone since before our trek through Tartarus. I knew neither of us wanted to be alone long enough to test if we still got nightmares of the embodiment of one of our worlds greatest evils, so we had to stay together. But where to go?
While Athena was more than willing to let her daughter stay the night, I don't think she'd like the idea of me walking passed her palace, let alone sleep in it. My dad on the other hand, loved Annabeth, and would be more than happy to have her over, and probably make a bunch of crude jokes when he would see us go to bed for the night. But his palace was under water, and Annabeth, well, she wasn't acclimated to the climate.
As I stood there, thinking of all the pros and cons of the situation, my girlfriend walked over to her mother and very simply asked her,"Can Percy come too?"
"Why?" Athena queried, with about 99% less disdain than usual.
"Because we both suffer from horrific nightmares about Tartarus and haven't been able to sleep properly without one another since," ah, there was my Wise Girls bluntness.
"Oh, well, okay, but keep that Sea Spawn under control," the goddess looked at me to glare, but she didn't seem to actually want to do it for once. She then grumbled,"If he behaves like he did this morning I'll throw him out."
By this point, most people had left, the only people in the room being me, Annabeth, Athena, Aphrodite, Piper, and Shel. And as soon as the Goddess of Love heard that statement she yelled over,"Do you mean what he was doing before breakfast or when he teased you after breakfast because you were staring at him like a desperate housewife!"
"APHRODITE!" the Goddess of Wisdom screamed, her faced flushed in fury. It was kind of cute, although I probably only thought that because it was just like looking at Annabeth in her early thirties getting annoyed. After a moment of Athena threatening to kill Aphrodite, she turned to her daughter and calmly said,"You remember where my palace is, so please escort the Sea Sperm - SPAWN! - there."
And she flashed away, accompanied by the love goddesses giggles,"Wow! One look at your abs and she gets all flustered!" she squealed excitedly,"That's so hot!"
"Mum, calm down," Piper chuckled awkwardly,"This isn't really the time."
"Nonsense," Aphrodite purred, strutting up to me and resting her hand against my chest,"You call me anytime Percy, and I'll happily teach you," she glanced at Annabeth,"and your queen here what gods can do."
She too flashed away.
We all stood in shock for a minute, and then I turned to the daughter of Aphrodite,"What did you say to Athena at breakfast?"
"Nothing! I just told her to relax," she stated matter-of-factly, causing Annabeth to groan in annoyance,"What?"
