Breakfast in Bed
A Spider-Man fanfiction by Kourtney Megumi
------------------------------------------------
Mary Parker knew she hadn't been a good mother. She'd left her little boy without a mother in the times he had needed her most. Richard Parker's hand left the small plane's controls for a moment and gripped hers. They'd gone through with the trickiest part of the mission – gaining evil's trust. The whole ordeal had been exhausting, but now the couple was headed towards Queens, New York to reunite their family.
But the controls locked up, and no matter how hard he tried, her husband couldn't steer anymore. Then the fire, then the plane's nose-dive.
They had been discovered.
Peter Parker often wondered what went through his mother's thoughts in her last seconds of life. In fact, his head was full of those questions today.
Watching the excitement on May's face as they got up early and rummaged around the kitchen, he couldn't help but wonder what it would have been like to celebrate mother's day with her. Would he have looked like May, with pancake batter dripping off his nose, or would they have taken her out to eat? What kind of present would she have received?
No time to think about it now, though. For he was having a hard enough time trying to keep his excited toddler from making any noise outside the door.
"On three, okay?"
May nodded, and decided to start the countdown herself. "One…"
"Two…"
"Three!"
There was an excited squeal as they busted the door open to the small house's master bedroom.
"Mommy! Wake up!" May bounced up and down on the bed, nearly jumping on the redhead occupying it.
Peter grinned and joined in with his daughter's antics. "MJ come on! Rise and shine!"
"Hey… stop it you two!" Mary Jane groaned and buried her face deeper into the pillow.
May, deciding that squashing her mother was going to do no good in awaking her, dismounted the bed and ran to the dishes placed on the floor.
Peter sat and patted his wife's back.
How would she have reacted?
He shoved the thought away, no time to focus on it now.
"Mommy! Look! Orange juice!" May swung the glass temptingly back and forth in front of her mother's face. "Daddy and I made breakfast!"
Trying to hide her smile, Mary Jane surrendered. "All right. All right. I'm up." She took the glass from her daughter's hand.
Breakfast that morning went well, even though May ended up eating most of the food. And amongst the laughter and food, Peter found himself looking into his wife's green eyes, and the answer to his questions hit him.
I have all I need here, there's no use wondering about the past.
And the Parker family had a Happy Mother's Day.
THE END.

Augh… I can't believe I actually put this up! :P
