The Real Challenge

A part of me asks myself Why? Why do I continuously betray my friends and allies? And even my own sister? And the only response I can give it is this: because I want to survive.

I don't actually agree with most of my father's morals, but that doesn't really matter. Once he accomplishes his main goal, he'll destroy those who turned from him. There's no doubt in my mind that Wanda will be the first to go. Then Mystique, although he might not kill her, seeing as she was fighting the X-men as well as him. Next will be Todd, Lance, Freddy, and Rogue for defecting to the X-Geeks. Finally he'll go after Xavier's minions. All of them have up until Apocalypse is released to change their minds, or at least pretend to. After that, however…they're done for.

A gunshot rings out at the station

Another urchin snaps and

Left dead on his own

It makes we wonder why I'm still here

I probably would've numbered amongst those who opposed him… until I found out about his Apocalypse plan. By himself, and any others he could gather, defeating him would have been hard, but not impossible. With him controlling Apocalypse, not even the mythical Merlin would be able to stop him.

Nice guys finish last.

You're running out of gas.

Any, it's better to be evil than to die. An honorable death still means you're dead. I'll be sad when the others die, but it's not like I'm going to live for long. What most don't realize is that my power isn't exactly super-speed. It's that I live on a different plane, where time runs faster than in reality. Meaning that I age not at the normal rate for human (or even mutant) beings, but about three times faster. I've only had my 'gift' for less than a year, so it doesn't show much, but soon it will. I'd rather live while I'm alive, than to try it when I'm dead.

Gotta live it up while life goes on

And I think it's alright

That I do what I like

'Cause that's the way I wanna live

The only way that Daddy dearest might not win would be if the others knew of Apocalypse. Magneto sure ain't telling, and neither am I. Seriously, even if they knew, what could they do about it? They're kids. We're kids. Sure, there's Wolverine, but he's sort of being held by those psychopathic radicals. That leaves Xavier, Storm, and I suppose you could include Laser-Eyes and TK girl. And on the other side, there's Pyro, Gambit, Colossus, Sabertooth, and Magneto himself. Still, with all the other kids, they'd have more than a fighting chance.

Which way to go?

Another turning point

A fork stuck in the road

Time grabs you by the wrist

Directs you where to go

So make the best of this test

And don't ask why

It's not a question

But a lesson learned in time
