Opps . . sorry about the mistakes we have got to be the worst spellers in
the world but we do get by, and it doesn't help when word spell checker
keeps on coming up with different spellings to the one we want! Anyway we
have just changed them!!!
This is a rather short chapter in comparison to the chapters that are still to come, and the reason for this is because this is a very moving moment for our young hobbit, Frodo Baggins.
Please read and review!!!!
Chapter 1: The Memories of a Hobbit
Frodo awoke to the sound of waves lapping, lacy spray onto the hull of the boat. He sighed, and stood up searching about himself for his companions. Among the ones he knew best, was his beloved Uncle Bilbo Baggins, Gandalf the white, an old family friend and the great noble elf lords Elrond, Galadriel and Celeborn.
For a moment Frodo's thoughts strayed to his homeland in the Shire. He saw, as if he was watching his companions in the days when the plague of the ring was at large. There was Legolas, Gimli, Pippin, Merry, Aragorn, Boromir and most particularly his best friend Sam, how he missed the slightly blundering and courageous hobbit with his cheery smile that he had learned to love.
Awaking himself from his thoughts, Frodo could see that they were leagues away from the borders of middle Earth, and all that could be seen for miles was the rich green blue sea. Judging by the sun it was about midday, and Frodo sighed as he walked along the hull of the boat. An old voice was humming away, and Frodo was curious as to who it was. As he peered around he could see a figure sitting by the edge of the boat. The figure was in grey, but wore white underneath. And an old pointy hat was resting on the old wizard's head. It was Gandalf.
"The road goes ever on and on . . . " the old man sat, singing to himself as Frodo approached. "Oh. My dear Frodo," Gandalf spoke with delight, "How are you?" Frodo moved to sit down next to Gandalf, his bright eyes fixed on the open sea, "Very well, thank you Gandalf." The old wizard smiled and joined Frodo, as he too gazed along the Horizon. The cloudless blue sky above them seemed everlasting as it sank into the sea about them, and they sighed as they looked back towards their homeland.
"Oh," Frodo sighed quietly, "I often feel as though I am forgetting Gandalf." The wizard faced the hobbit beside him. "As though I am forgetting my past, what I have done all of my years." Gandalf, knowing the answer whispered to Frodo, "You are slowly fading away from your past. You are diminishing into the west, and will soon forget all memories." Frodo then sat in thought about what Gandalf had just said, wondering how he could forget the times of happiness he had with his friends and the times of great peril with the fellowship. At this Gandalf began to sing again, "The road goes ever on and on . . . "
Frodo could not bear forgetting these precious memorys, and as the reality that faced him, suggesting that his memorys would be taken, a tear slid down the hobbit's cheek. For he did not want to forget the great quest he had set out for from Hobbiton with his fellow hobbit friends, and when the Fellowship had joined him at Rivendell. How he missed them all.
