Disclaimer: As always, Marvel's characters belong to them. I'm merely borrowing them. No profit is being made from this story, and, as always, suing me would be a fruitless venture. I haven't two pennies to rub together.
Authors note: This is the third in a series I've been doing, the First entitled Taking Chances', and the second, Dead for Years'.

PalinI make my way up t' stairs an' wonder if she'll
even talk t' me. It's been a long time, an' a lot
has happened since t' last time we had a conversation. I
can't help t'inkin' she might jus' hate me
f'r what I did. After all, she was the leader of the
Morlocks. An' I'm the one who got dem killed.
Logan said not t' worry too
much. Likely as not, she won't even know I'm dere. Now dat's
a comforting thought. Mon Dieu. What'd I do if she hates my
guts? Stormy's been my best friend for as long as I care to
remember, since she was jus' a lost pup in Cairo,
runnin' from Nanny an' the Shadow King. I t'ink
I'd rather be back there facin' those two den
standin' at dis door right now, t' tell the truth.
Well, here goes nothin'.
I knock twice, an' I can here
footsteps coming down t' stairs and towards the door, soft
as a cat. I take a deep breath an wait f'r it t' open.
looks t' same. Don't know why I spected any different. Maybe jus' cause I've changed a bit over the years. But not Stormy. She's a regal lookin' as ever. She's starin' at me wit' does blue cat eyes of hers Can't tell if she's angry, or jus' surprised. Can't really even tell if she knows who I am.
Her hand flies to cover her mouth. She whispers.
And any fear I had takes wings and flies away, cause the look on her face is one of astonishment and relief. I have t' smile. Can't help it. I can feel the grin spreading cross my face.
Hey dere Stormy. I'm home.
