Mad World
By; Spooky
I was listing to Tears for fears; "Mad world" and it made me think of Nny, so I wrote a songfic! Please don't eat my organs!
Nny walked the lonely streets of the city not sure of why he was there. He looked around at the buildings hideous in their dark overshadowing windows. Nny saw some bums he saw a lot, when he left the house, huddled over a trashcan fire.
All around me are familiar faces,
Worn out places, worn out faces
Bright and early for their daily races
Going nowhere, going nowhere
Nny looked over at a fighting couple, they had just broken up. The girl cried, but Nny knew by tomorrow she would be back at that club dancing to that expressionless music.
And their tears are filling up their glasses
No expression, no expression
Nny thought of Devi, sitting down a bench, wrapping his legs around himself. His mind fixed on the thought of their date.
Hide my head I want to drown my sorrow
No tomorrow, no tomorrow
Nny looked up at the stars, his eyes slightly blurred form tears.
"The stars are so beautiful tonight." Nny said getting up.
And I find it kind of funny
I find it kind of sad
The dreams in which I'm dying
Are the best I've ever had
Nny looked up surprised to see Devi. She walked toward him.
"Hello Nny." Devi said.
"What are you doing here?" Nny said hiding his shock, turning away.
"Well, I have a backpack full of mace and I couldn't help but feel bad seeing you sitting here alone." She said calmly. She noticed a tear running down Nny's face, she gently wiped it away with the tip of her finger, knowing that in this state Nny was pretty much defenseless. "What's wrong Nny?"
I find it hard to tell you
'Cos I find it hard to take
"Remembering…" He said looking down on the city, cringing at the tiny dots that wandered the streets.
When people run in circles
It's a very, very
Mad World
"Remembering what?"
"Our first date…" Nny said softly. "And my childhood…"
Children waiting for the day they feel good
Happy Birthday, Happy Birthday
Made to feel the way that every child should
Sit and listen, sit and listen
"I don't remember you ever really telling me about your childhood."
"I don't remember much." Nny sighed. "And what I do remember is painful."
Went to school and I was very nervous
No one knew me, no one knew me
Hello teacher tell me what's my lesson
Look right through me, look right through me
"Well I'll leave you to you thoughts then Nny." Devi said.
"Wait…"
"What?" Devi barely finished her sentence before Nny kisses her softly on the lips.
"We never got to do that last time…" Nny said blushing. Devi put a finger to her lip and smiled.
"Thank you Nny…" She said quietly. "Keep in touch…"
Nny just smiled and watch her walk away.
"This night sure turned around nicely…"
