A million things were going through my mind as I pulled Rinoa up the point of the weird equipment in the Lunatic Pandora and towards Adel, where her life may possibly end.
In all truths, I still loved her, but I wanted so much to please the Sorceress... I was torn between two different feelings, and it was horrible.
I don't know why I thought I could pull it off, and I'm sure Rinoa could sense my hesitation.
"Seifer, please..." She whispered, her voice desperate, full of fear and terror. She knew my plans, but she could tell just by looking at me how I felt for her. "You don't have to do this, you know."
Again, a million different thoughts and feelings flooded me all at once.
"You can just let me go, and forget this all. I'm sure everyone will forgive you... If you give me to Adel..."
"Shut up." I hissed, shaking my head. Damn, how could one person screw up all my thoughts and plans like the way she was doing?
She fell silent, but now tears were sparkling in her eyes. She had such a pathetic expression on her face, like a beaten dog.
"Seifer!" Came a voice from behind me.
It made up my mind. I hated Squall to the very depths of my soul, but not for reasons everyone thought. I had started really hating him when I saw him standing in the Timber TV Station with Rinoa. I was... I was so angry right then, because I knew what he was doing. Taking Rinoa from me, taking her so I'd never have another chance with her.
I pulled Rinoa very close to me and whispered, "If I can't have you, no one can." And then I pushed her.
Squall came up and shoved me out of the way, trying to stop Adel's advancing hand from lifting Rinoa up. But it was too late.
I saw Squall's little personal lackey, or Chicken-wuss as I preferred to call him, right behind Squall.
Zell looked at me with such disapproval, such utter and total loathing... And with arrogance.
And I knew it was true. Everyone was better than me. I was nothing.
Nothing.
