Beep beep! Beep beep!
I looked at the alarm clock. It said 7:00 am.
'Heero must have reset it. No use going back to sleep.'
As I get up, I look in the mirror. I look like shit. I go into the bathroom wash my face and dry it with a towel. I go back into my room and put on my regular clothes; a black pair of pants, red shirt, and a black sweater that I borrowed from a girl at school. I then walk down stairs, and turn the TV on channel seven. There was live coverage on something in New York, a tall building with a large smoking hole in it. It didn't seem all that important at the time, so I went in the kitchen and made some coffee. I came out of the kitchen just in time to see a plane crash into the tower next to it. It didn't scare me, but it kinda upset me, knowing that it took out about three stories and every one on the plane and in the area that it crashed, died. If the plane was full, then I guess that about 200 people, plus or minus, were dead in that one crash alone. Thanks to the coffee, I am now fully awake. And here comes Quatre. "Hey Duo do you wan-" "Shh!" I pointed at the television.
Since we traveled to the past, we chose to live in America, which just happens to be my nationality. It wasn't communist, and we all would fit in, because America is multicultural, but you already knew that. We are very lucky that the legal age is 18, because that is what we will be in a year. We all celebrate our birthdays on famous holidays from our countries.
"Duo? What happened?" Quatre looked at me. I still watched the TV, and before I was able to speak, the news reporter came on. We listened to him, as the other guys came down the stairs. Apparently, the "Taliban," or, military from the country of Afghanistan, decided to take over some airliners and crash them into the World Trading Center. Both the planes were aimed kinda high, thank the lord they weren't lower, or they would have probably killed more people, by the explosion, extreme heat, and it would have blocked more escape routes. We all slowly sat down on the couch. Then the first tower started crashing and about 30 stories below, people were pushed out of the windows. Everybody was shocked and saddened by this event, and Quatre started crying. I held out for a bit longer. Trowa who hadn't said a word up until now, held Quatre and said,
"Oh my God."
This event is in the history books at home. They have the main details, like what time, how, who did it, why, how many people died, and stuff like that. But you never realize what goes through peoples' minds when this is happening right in front of them. Or on live coverage television. It's sad. The second building starts to collapse, and I am very shocked. After it has collapsed, I start crying, and Heero wraps his arms around me. I hold him close to me as I cry. Right now, I am not afraid to cry. Wufei pats my shoulder and shuts off the television.
Well that is chapter one. I know this has touched the lives of many people, and may God be with you. I wrote this story on September 15, 2001. I just haven't typed it yet. Until now. Chapter two will be up shortly. Please review.
