"I'm done with the interviews. Let me know whenever you get free."

I sent the text to Edward as I waited for him in the coffee shop near his office. I was in San Francisco for the interviews for a new job and thought about catching up with him.

I was sure he was going to manage to piss me off, but that's fine I guess! I mean, he always tried to catch up with me whenever he came to Seattle. I mean, maybe that's because he'd be catching up with Masen, but still...

"Welcome to San Francisco," he said as he arrived quickly after some time.

"Hello..." I smiled, "How are you doing?"

"It's been a hectic day," he said.

"Oh, I hope I'm not disturbing you," I said, "You can carry on, that's totally fine! I mean, my flight is soon, so you can continue with your work."

"No, it's fine," he said, "Not that hectic! Anyway, I didn't know you were planning to move to San Francisco."

"I'm still not sure," I said, "It's just that the opportunity seems really good, so I wanted to give it a shot."

"How did the interviews go?" He asked.

"I don't know..." I sighed, "I mean, I feel I could have done better. I'm pretty sure I've messed it up badly at a few places."

"You always worry too much," he rolled his eyes, "I'm pretty sure you've done a good job, and I know you're going to get it!" He said.

I stared at him. Did he actually say that?

"Don't do this!" I shook my head.

"Don't do... what?" He asked.

"Don't talk to me in such a nice manner... I'm not used to it!" I said.

He chuckled.

"I mean, sometimes you don't need to be the best, you just need to be... lucky."

Okay, here he goes!

"So you think I'm not qualified for the job, and I'm just lucky! Great!" I rolled my eyes.

"I was talking about myself," he laughed, "Believe me, I did horrible in the interviews for my current job, and still managed to get the job! I was just lucky!"

I rolled my eyes. "I'm pretty sure you had done a good job, if not the best job in the interviews," I said, "I'm sure you had given more than what was expected from the candidate! Don't try to be modest! I know you always give your hundred percent!"

He put his hand on his heart and made a dramatic face, "I see what you meant about hearing nice things from me... It works the other way too, you know?"
