Hi,

I hope you enjoy this short little verse. Originally I had no title for it, but then I asked for suggestions from a list I belong to and someone came through for me and suggested the current title. I am grateful for their help as my title-coming-up-with ability is almost non-existant.

So here goes with the disclaimers: Not mine, wish they
were, and all the rest.

Now on with the show, of course its not much but it is
an attempt.

Trust Issues (Originally titled: Untitled Verse)

I know not why I was blessed by one so gifted.
His trust is a precious thing.
He gives it not lightly.
For he was brought up with the lesson that those who were close betray.

I grieve for the loss.
How much better it would have been for him, for all, if.......

But ifs are only wishes.
We cannot live in fantasy, though we try, only with what is.
Thus I must work to gain his trust, he has mine.

For he guards his city and I guard him.

The End

Feedback appreciated, but please be gentle.

Note: The above title for this poem was given to me by a member of the Sentinal Angst list. I would like to thank him/her for their help.
