When he found him, Anakin was the perfect picture of Jedi composure. He
was seated on the ground near the water fountains, his eyes closed, his
long legs tucked underneath him, his breathing steady and even. Obi-Wan
approached without making a sound, and before he could get very close to
his apprentice, he saw what could only be described as an arrogant smile
cross the young man's face.
"Yes, master?" Anakin said without opening his eyes.
"The Council wishes to see you right away," Obi-Wan said. "Prepare yourself."
There was no acknowledgement to his request until a few seconds later when Anakin ended his meditations, and opened his eyes rising from the ground. "What does the Council want, master?"
Obi-Wan began to walk out of the gardens and after he straightened his robe, Anakin followed him.
"I'm not sure, Anakin," Obi-Wan replied. "What happened to you on Tatooine?" Obi-Wan was watching his Padawan's face carefully when he said this, and instantly he saw pain enter the young man's eyes. When they entered the elevator, Anakin turned his back to Obi-Wan. "Anakin, did something happen there that you should tell me about?"
"No, master."
Obi-Wan knew he was lying then as he now recognized the other emotion he had in Anakin's eyes....
Hatred...
He wanted to speak further on this but they reached the level of the Council chambers, and Obi-Wan was forced to keep his silence as they walked into the room.
"Thank you, Master Kenobi. Help out teaching the young ones you will until finished we have with your apprentice," Yoda said.
Obi-Wan looked at Yoda. "Master, I-"
"You are dismissed," Mace Windu said, his tone allowing for no arguments.
Reluctantly, Obi-Wan nodded and left his apprentice to stand alone before the Council of Jedi Masters...
