Disclaimer: I do not (sniff) own any of (sob) the characters (runs off
crying).
Just a short little fic I wrote. This is what you get when you from an overstressed, board out of her mind author in a depressing mood.
"Um, I have an announcement."
Everyone turned to Duo. He sounded sad and now that Herro looked he saw that Duo looked drug out.
"I, I've got lung cancer."
Silence followed. They all just let it sink in. Trowa, being his calm self asked, "Is it terminal?"
"Yes, they figure I've got 3 months."
"What!?" Quatre cried out. He then started to cry. Trowa hugged him. Wufei just got up and left, but Herro couldn't move. How is this possible he kept asking himself.
He finally got his legs to move and went up to his room where he sat silently in the dark until he fell asleep
Three months went by quickly and, true to prediction, Duo died. Herro was in shock for weeks. He couldn't eat or sleep and he just wouldn't talk.
Herro thought he had known what pain was. He was the Perfect Soldier, he could deal with it. No matter what, he was thought. Not any more. He never knew what pain was until that one, fateful day at dinner. Knowing that Duo was going to die was bad enough, but not being able to do anything about it was worse. kemo and radiation wouldn't have worked. Nothing he could have done. It was too much.
Herro was looking through Duo's stuff when he found and envelope with his name written on it. He opened it.
Herro,
If you are reading this, goodl. I'm not sure if you will. I just wanted to tell you that I was really glad I got to work with you. Tell Trowa, Quatre, and Wufei that, will ya? I have to tell you that I enjoyed our time together. You were a great friend even if you didn't talk much. You were always there, even if you were calling baka at the time. Herro, thank you for being my friend, even if it wasn't all I wanted. I wasn't sure if it was what you wanted, so I didn't say anything. Herro, I love you, I always have.
1 Duo
Herro put the letter down, picked up his gun and pointed it at his head. He was crying.
Duo, he thought as he pulled the trigger. I love you. I always have.
So, what'd ya think. I'm awful sorry for any spelling or grammer mistakes. English isn't my best subject. Please review it would mean the world to me if you would.
