"Genesis Feilding?" asked Mrs. Sparhawk.

"Here" said a boy of medium height, who had blue eyes and brown hair. He was wearing yellow and blue Hawaiian print shorts, a white shirt with Billabong on the back and yellow Nike shoes. He was sitting at a desk in AP Biology at the Edward Musky learning conservatory. It was a small private school that had 123 students. The school was for grades 8-12. There were only 5 people in their class. He had all AP classes and so didn't the other four. So they had all their classes together.
"Moonshine Ramsey?"
"Here" said a girl who was overweight and who was wearing a tan skirt, a black shirt with a gold rose on it, and combat boots. She had dark brown hair and green eyes. She was another of the 5 students, and one teacher in the classroom. She was best friends with each of the students in the room. Their group was inseparable.

"Elsbeth Janeway?"
"Here" said a girl who was wearing a denim skirt and a tie-dyed shirt. She was busy trying to memorize all the characteristics of living things.
"Rachelica Follette?"
"Here" This was said by a girl with curly brown hair and green eyes. She had on a pair of kakis and a shirt that said Arizona Jeans. On her feet were yellow sandals. She was doodling on her bio book cover.
"Ezekiel Clarkson?"
"Here" said a boy in dark blue dress pants, a Summer explorations shirt, a bright orange vest, and a pair of sneakers on his feet. He was thinking about the latest girl he was going out with. Ezekiel was the epitome of the school bicycle. All but five girls from the school had went out with him. All but 7 girls had had intimate relations with him.
"Okay everyone is here we can start class. Have any of you listened to the news lately? If you have you would know about a virus which is going around in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East. It is killing a lot of animals and has started killing people. Scientists don't know what is causing it nor do they have a cure. It makes the people age in days what they would age in decades. Needless to say this is a swift killer. It is highly contagious."
The class went on for another 90 minutes and then the bell rang.
"Thank God that that's all over. That was the most soporific bio class I have had in awhile," said Elsbeth.
It was Friday and that bell had been the last bell of the day. Elsbeth cornered Genesis after he had gotten to his locker, and asked him to come over to her house that night. He said he would.
"I'll be in my room so come right up ok."
He nodded. He packed up all his stuff and walked out to his car. He put the keys in the ignition and started the car up. He drove home and put his book bag in his room and went to Elsbeth's house. He noticed her parents were not home as he went up the stairs.
When he got to her bedroom door he knocked.
"Come in," said Elsbeth. He entered her room. She was wearing a little tan lacy piece of lingerie. She walked over to him and gave him a glass of wine. She had one also. She turned on her television. They drank the wine while watching Rudolph the Red nosed Reindeer. When Elsbeth and Genesis where done drinking the first glass of wine she got them both another one. By the time that movie was done they had drunken four glasses of wine. Elsbeth got up and put in another movie. She came back with another bottle of wine. They each drank another glass of wine and then started watching the movie. When the movie got to a kissing part Elsbeth said that looked like fun and Elsbeth leaned over and kissed Genesis. He kissed her back. After that one thing lead to another and they had sex. Then they fell asleep.

Five hours later Genesis woke up with a pounding head ache. It felt like to there was a little elf in his head hitting his brain with a HUGE hammer. He looked down at himself and found he was without clothes and had his arm draped over someone. He looked at that someone and saw it was Elsbeth. He woke her up.

"What the hell happened?" Genesis shouted.

"Well what do you think happened?" Elsbeth replied. Slowly Genesis's memories of the night before came back to him. He remembered watching Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer. Then he remembered a lot of wine being drunk. Then the memories of the next movie and the kiss scene came back. Then what they did after that came back. He got up and dressed himself. Then he left without another word. He got into his car and drove to Moonshine's house. He knew her parents wouldn't be home because it was only 11:00 pm on a Friday night. Moonshine's parents are always out until like 1:00 am on Friday nights. He also Moonshine would be home because she doesn't date. He walked to her door and knocked. Moonshine asked who it was.
"Its Genesis."
Moonshine opened the door. Genesis came in and said he needed to talk. She brought him into the family room and went into the kitchen. She got some matches and 2 cups of tea. She went back into the family room and gave Genesis a cup of tea. She lit some apple cinnamon candles. Then she sat down.
"Okay what's a matter?"
He told her what had happened at Elsbeth's house. As she heard it her face became blank then her eyes became misty. She said that she would be right back. She walked out of the door and once out of his view she ran to the bathroom. She went in and locked it. She burst into tears.
"Why the hell didn't you ask him out? Well because he would reject you. But I like him so much. Do you want someone who sleeps around? Well I like him. Stop talking to yourself you bloody ugly cow! Why am I so ugly?" she said out loud to herself. She went in front of the mirror and saw how her eyes were puffy and red. She put some eye drops in her eyes and washed her face. Then she went back out.

Genesis had changed seats but was still there. She asked him how he felt. And he told her he felt dirty. He went on about it and then he noticed saw a car coming up Moonshine's driveway. He told Moonshine what he saw.

"Holy Shit! You need to leave. If my parents find you here they will ground me for weeks. Come on I'll let you out the cellar door." They both ran out of the room and down the hallway. When they came to the cellar door Moonshine threw it open and both of them ran down the cellar steps. She ran to the cellar door and whipped out her key. She unlocked the door and threw it open. Genesis gave her a friendly hug and then thanked her for listening to him. He then ran out of the door and into the darkness of night.

ABOUT ONE MONTH LATER

The teacher quickly went through attendance in Biology class. Everyone was there so she started talking.

"As you all know this Monday is the last day of school. Probably it will be last day of school forever. All the adults are dieing and since no children have shown any symptoms anywhere scientists are pretty sure you will all survive. But just to be sure on Friday morning all humans under the age of 18 in this town will be evacuated to the countryside. There will be little camps where all of you will go. They are run by trained 17 year olds. You will stay there until those leaders say otherwise. When all the adults have died you will listen to them and they will run the city. Most scientists say it will take 1-3 months for the virus to kill all kids over the age of 18. I urge you to follow their directions so that when you need to rebuild society you will be able to do so in an orderly fashion. Now you can do what you want as I have no plans beyond that. I hope that you all do your part to rebuild the world once I and the rest of the mature humans have passed on."

All of the five students in the class looked at each other and then put all their desks in a circle.

"I am not going to go to some camp where some kid less than two years older then I will tell me what do to and where to do it. Especially if all our parents have been dead for at least a 3 weeks. I say we build a shelter underground and stock enough supplies for 3 months. Then we stay down there until the three months are up. I'll rig some sort of material to make the lock out of. Then I will get some acid that will take at least five months to dissolve the lock completely. That way after three or four months if we must get out we can break open the lock," said Ezekiel. They all agreed to do so. They also assigned each of themselves a job: Moonshine was to get the nonfood supplies they would need, Genesis was to build the shelter, Rachelica and Elsbeth were to get the food, Ezekiel was in charge of the whole lock and acid stuff. They decided that they could just steal all they needed because the police didn't do anything anymore. Once the bell rang they decided to get some of what they needed and meet at Moonshine's house later that day.

THREE DAYS LATER

Moonshine, Rachelica, Elsbeth, Genesis, and Ezekiel had everything ready and built. They were going to spend their last night above ground at Moonshine's house. They were all to wake up at 3:00am on Friday morning. That was when they were to enter their underground shelter. When the time came for them to go underground they gathered what little stuff they could in their own backpacks. Then they took their belongings and went to the underground shelter. Before they left unbeknownst to the rest Elsbeth packed three pregnancy tests. She had been feeling queasy in the mornings and having weird cravings, and was wondering if she was pregnant. When they all got inside they unloaded their stuff. Ezekiel locked the lock and melted the key. He put the slow acting acid on the lock and then closed the inside door. Then he put up the calendar. He went three months ahead of this day and marked the first day that the lock could even be attempted to be broken open. He looked around. The walls were the color of a chalk board. Genesis had always hated the color of wood so he spray painted the walls black. The air smelled of raspberries and cream. Moonshine had made sure that there was enough air fresheners so they wouldn't have to deal with the stench of the rotting trash they would have in the back room of their shelter. He reached out and felt a wall. It was rough like the stubble formed on a man's face from not shaving for a day or two. He started putting food into the cupboards. Then they all sat down and played a game of cards. Elsbeth excused herself and went to the outhouse like thing they had. Genesis had stolen a porta potty from a park and the equipment and chemicals to clean it. Elsbeth made it to the bathroom facilities just in time before she puked her guts out. She ran to her room where she put her stuff and grabbed the pregnancy test. She couldn't take the wondering anymore. She had to know if she was pregnant. She preformed the test and hid it in her room and went back to the card game. She lost two hands of poker and then went back to her room. She looked at the test. It said she was pregnant. Since she hadn't been with anyone for about a year before she had sex with Genesis she knew it was his. So she went back out to where they were playing and saw that they had stopped playing cards and had one of those crank radios going. Ezekiel had rigged it to play tapes and CDs also. The soundtrack from the Rocky Horror Picture Show was playing. Elsbeth pulled Genesis aside and told him that she was pregnant and the baby was his. He started walking away from her with tears streaming down his cheeks. He walked to his room and thought about it for about an hour. Then he went out of his room and found her and told her that he would take care of her and their baby.

THREE MONTHS LATER

The day had finally arrived. The day when the lock could be broken if they so wished to do so. They held a meeting and voted on whether to break the lock or not. The vote was unanimous. They were going up. Everyone packed what they could carry in their backpacks and started trying to break the lock. It took 7 hits to break open the door into freedom. Finally the lock was broken and they all walked out into the darkness of night.

They walked until they found some bushes and hid in those. They fell asleep.

When they woke up the next morning they went to Moonshine's old house to see what was going on. Inside they found a dead body with dried blood crusted all over his body. He was clutching something. Moonshine bent down and saw what it was. It was a small book.

"The diary of Det Nitram," read Moonshine. She took the diary out of the cold dead hands of the boy, sat down and began to read. Once she was done she told everyone what it said in between those pages.

"Ok basically this is what happened since we went underground. They evacuated all the children to those camps Mrs. Sparhawk was talking about. But all of the camps were strict and didn't feed the children well and all of the camps had revolts and the leaders lost control. The kids then decided to join together and make groups. This Det Nitram kid calls them tribes. Apparently the tribes to watch out for are the Flexicairs and the Red Deaths. There are some nice tribes to apparently. They are called The Saved and The Herbs. There is no electricity anymore. If we want anything we have to steal. But you know what I think? I think we should start our own tribe. This could be our headquarters if we made some adjustments for security reasons. We could pool our recourses and Elsbeth is going to need a place to have her baby. We should vote on this."

Everyone voted and the unanimous vote was to become their own tribe. They had a meeting and decided on how to make the house safer from other tribes. They made those improvements in the next following days.

ABOUT A MONTH AND A HALF LATER

Genesis walked outside and looked upward. He saw some birds and then turned around and looked at his door. There was a note posted on the door. He started reading it out loud.

"We will get you and your food. Most of you WILL die."

He ripped off the note and ran inside. He called an emergency meeting of the tribe to show them the note. They all got scared and then decided to make security even tighter. They spent all day boarding up all the windows and added extra locks to the doors. But unbeknownst to them it wouldn't help. They had a plan in place where Elsbeth would hide with Moonshine in the secret passage of the house because Elsbeth was due very soon and she could go into labor. Moonshine had some medical experience so she was the one to go with Elsbeth while the rest of them would fight. If the fighting were to get too tough they were to go into the secret passage also.

When the day was coming to an end the tribe knew that there might be an attack and so they doubled the amount of people on watch from one to two people. When you were on watch you had a weapon and was to listen for anything out of the ordinary. If you heard anything out of the ordinary you were to go investigate by looking into it. If it was a person who got into the house you were to sound the alarm which is putting a bullhorn on the sirens mode and play it until everyone is awake. Genesis and Ezekiel were on watch. They saw each of the rest of the tribe go to bed. Genesis went up stairs to look around and Ezekiel looked down stairs.

While Ezekiel and Genesis were trying to watch out for the house a large group of people surrounding it. They had an array of weapons that spanned from base ball bats, to swords, to M-16s. They were talking among themselves until their leader clapped her hands and then all was silent. Their leader began talking.

"These people have food we need and they are weak so let us get it. Survival of the fittest. We will get in there and take them captive. We are the Nefarious Persons and we shall win the day."

"We are the Nefarious Persons and we shall win the day," the rest of the tribe replied.

"Follow me on our way to victory," their leader said. She started taking an axe to the front door. She took three chops at it and then on the fourth chop the axe went through. She broke through the door.

Ezekiel heard the chopping of the door and knew it was an axe. He switched his bullhorn to siren mode and then sounded the alarm. He ran up the stairs and got out weapons for himself and the three others that would fight. He went up to Genesis who was helping Elsbeth into the secret passage. Moonshine was talking to Genesis as he was helping Elsbeth.

"Look, her waters have broken and she needs sanitary sheets, scissors, and warm water. I am going to need to get her out of here she will alert them to us if she makes noise and she will make noise because she will be in a lot of pain,"

"How are you going to get her out?" Genesis asked.

"This passage leads to the shed. We will make it there and see if its clear to leave the shed if it isn't we will have to go deep into the passage and it should bring us downstairs and we should be able to slip out the cellar door," Moonshine said.

"It should? You don't know! This is my baby and my baby's mother we are trying to save and you don't know where the passage leads!"

"I never went through all the passages but I know one heads to the shed and one leads to every room in the house. So if the fighting gets to intense try to run into a deserted room and try to lock the door behind you. If the room has a bookshelf, then pull all the candle holders on the wall. One of them should pull down and the shelf should swing away from the wall and you enter there. If the room doesn't have a bookshelf then go to the closet and pull on the hooks and one should pull down and the back of the closet should open."

"Okay. Good luck. Deliver the baby well Moonshine."

She went into the passage after Elsbeth and closed it behind her. Genesis went over to Ezekiel and he took the riffle Ezekiel gave him. They found Rachelica and gave her a crossbow.

The other tribe started streaming in the open door. Rachelica, Genesis, and Ezekiel ducked down and gave the invaders the benefit of the doubt to see what they would do. Then the leader of the Nefarious persons started shouting.

"We will defeat you. There is no use fighting!"

Rachelica, Genesis, and Ezekiel looked at each other and simultaneously got up and the shots began to fly. They had to make every shot count because there were only three of them and at least 20 of the other tribe. Rachelica decided to crawl to another room and get some water boiling. She set up the stove and put water in a pot and put the pot onto the stove. She crawled back to Ezekiel and Genesis.

While inside the secret passages Moonshine was helping Elsbeth make her way to the shed. Elsbeth stopped walking and said that her contractions were to frequent to walk and she wasn't going anywhere.

"We need to walk Elsbeth. You shouldn't give birth in this place."

"Whether I should or not isn't the issue I am getting this out of me. Now are you going to help me or do I have to do it on my own?"

"Fine. I'll help. Lie down and do what your body tells you. I'll help when I can."

Rachelica crawled back to her water she was boiling and found it boiling and turned off the stove. She took the pot and crawled back to Genesis and Ezekiel. Then she got up and dumped the boiling water on the people below. Then Genesis, Ezekiel, and Rachelica started shooting again. Slowly but surely the Nefarious Persons were making their way up the stairs and then Genesis, Rachelica, and Ezekiel were surrounded. They put down their weapons and were tied up.

"The head is showing. Just push a little while longer!"

Elsbeth pushed with all her might and the baby's head came through. Then she pushed once more and the baby was out. Moonshine cut the umbilical cord and used a clean sheet to tried to wash the baby up a bit. Then she gave the baby to Elsbeth. Then the baby started crying. Moonshine and Elsbeth tried to quiet it but it would not be quiet.

Genesis heard the baby crying before the rest of them and told Ezekiel and Rachelica. Then the leader of the Nefarious Persons heard the baby.

"Shut up everybody! What is that noise?"

"Its a baby," a Nefarious person said.

"I do believe you are right," she said. Then she turned her attention the her captives. "So where the hell is that coming from?"

"Where is what coming from?" Ezekiel asked.

"The crying."

"What crying?"

The screaming got louder and louder until even Ezekiel couldn't deny it.

"That crying"

"Oh. That crying. Its probably some dog somewhere."

"No it isn't a dog. That is an infants cry. Where is it?"

"Well since we don't harbor infants. I don't know," Ezekiel replied.

"Maybe this will jog your memory," The leader took his knife and put it against Genesis's throat. "If you don't tell me, he dies!"

Genesis shook his head slightly and Ezekiel could read by the look on Genesis's face that Genesis was willing to die to protect Genesis's child.

"I told you. I..... DON'T..... KNOW!!!!!!!!!!!" Ezekiel yelled.

The leader walked over to Ezekiel and slit his throat. Ezekiel gurgled his blood for like a minute and then his head fell to one side and he was dead. Rachelica screamed and started sobbing. Tears started streaming down Genesis's cheeks. Then the leader went over to Genesis and put the knife at Genesis's throat.

"You" the leader pointed to Rachelica "Tell me where that crying is coming from or he dies also."

Genesis shook his head slightly. But Rachelica cracked.

"Its his" she pointed to Genesis "His girlfriend or whatever is in the secret passages in the house. She is giving birth."

"Thank you," the leader said as he walked over and slit Rachelica's throat. She gurgled in her own blood for about a minute and also died.

"Go find the mother and brat. I want to watch him see his girlfriend and brat be killed in front of him," the leader commanded some of his tribe members. When they had left the leader started taunting to Genesis.

"Your little brat is going to die and you have to watch. How does that make you feel? Your girlfriend. I bet she is a slut and the brat isn't even yours."

"Go to Hell. You Bastard."

The leader went over and punched Genesis. Then the group sent out to get Elsbeth and the baby came back with a now quiet child and a struggling sobbing Elsbeth.

"Genesis! They killed Moonshine. What is happening?"

"Elsbeth I'm sorry."

"Shut up or you die also," the leader said.

"I thought you should know I named our child, our girl, Rosemary Elsbeth Feilding."

"I said shut up and you didn't listen. You all die!"

The leader snapped his fingers and had the mother, father, and daughter killed. Then they looked for what they had come for, food. After an hour later they realized there was no food. They had done all that for nothing.
