One Little Muffin
One little muffin
Only one; that was all it took
One little muffin.
I took it up in my pale hand
I threw it hard and watched it land
One little muffin.
It bounced against the head of Zim
His anger welled up to the brim
He yelled out who had thrown at him
One little muffin.
I sat, content, watched as he screamed
About the muffin I had beamed
At him. How simple had it seemed
But where it led, I'd never dreamed
One little muffin.
After that time, I touched the sky
And watched my whole life pass me by
My dreams came true, and in turn I
Found happiness. Each time I'd try
I would succeed, all thanks to my
One little muffin.
But how back then was I to know
That this was all one well built show
I thought it was all real, but no.
It was the workings of my foe.
Because I threw, so long ago,
One little muffin.
Once he found out that it WAS me,
He pulled me out and set me free
I returned to reality.
And what had caused that fantasy:
One little muffin.
My dreams lay shattered on the floor
I knew I could not hope for more
Than what I had been shown before
It was the truth that hurt much more
One little muffin.
I walked into my empty room
And sat within darkness and gloom
And thought of my impending doom
One little muffin.
I could no longer take the pain
My real world hopes would be in vain
One little muffin.
I grabbed a knife. My hand, it shook…
One little muffin.
Eyes clamped tight shut, I couldn't look…
One little muffin.
Only one, that was all it took…
One little muffin.
