Eyes

The endless distance calls my eyes.

Stretching off into dim darkness.

Heavy waves crash upon silent shores.

I sit here and stare off into unseen lies,

Hidden deep behind my eyes.

Darkness falls upon the sea.

Blotting out the endless horizon.

Everything is fading into night.

I don't watch as the light dies,

Beneath my open eyes.

Stars begin to shine in the sky.

Silent waves can be heard by open ears.

The night is seen in shades of gray.

But I'll never see the moon rise,

With my silver eyes.

Coldness fills the air.

Cold that is comfortably cool.

Brought by the ocean breeze

To some I may look wise,

But it's only cold within my eyes.
