Rain

"This will be the last memory for today Jonas," The giver said, getting ready to transmit another memory. It had been almost a half of a year since the Giver had given Jonas the first memory. They had fallen into a sort of routine: The Giver would give him the bad memories, the painful ones, then he would end with a nice memory, like, a tennis match or a hike. This help relieve the pain of the earlier memories.

"Will it be good?" Jonas asked just to make sure.

"Of course. This one will especially soothing for the headache you have from the last memory," The Giver said, Placing His hands on Jonas.

At first Jonas could see nothing but he hear, it was a roar, but not quite. "No not a roar," thought Jonas, "Quieter, gentler, more soothing." It reminded him of a when his mother was pouring the beans into the pot at dinner.

Soon Jonas felt something. Like stones hitting him, but again no. It was softer, Like stones of air, like flowers. He liked his lips and tasted cool water. He raised his hands to his face and felt beaded water, as if he had just come from the bath. But the water was cool, and crisp, and as it hit his face it cooled to spot it hit, calming him all over. He felt as if he was becoming one with the air around him, so relaxed he could just drop down and sleep, but yet these soothing droplets kept him alert.

Finally his sight opened, he became aware that he was in some sort of field but with no sun. In fact it was quite dark, but yet light seemed to come around him. He could make out something falling from the sky, like glass from the heavens, little crystals all around him, Rain, he thought. He raised his head and let the rain splash on his face. Every cool drop relaxed Jonas's muscles. His tunic wet with the rain, as if he had just leaped into the river, clung to him and furthered the relaxation.

This truly was an enjoyable memory, Jonas longed for it to continue. But soon he felt to memory leaving and the splash of the rain fall behind him and the quiet of the room return .

"Did you enjoy that?" The Giver Asked, "That has always been one of my favorites."

"Oh, Yes Giver, I really enjoyed that," replied Jonas.

"Good, Well you'd best be going, you wouldn't want to be late for dinner," The giver said, getting off the bed and heading towards the door.

"Thank you very much," Jonas said leaving the room, "See you tomorrow."
