Dayus awoke to the familiar musty smell of the damp straw that he had
called a bed for the past 6 months. (Sorry I put the wrong # of months in
the history) He also awoke the equally familiar pain. He laid still for a
few moments, mustering the strength that he had, then crawled over to where
a silver plate of bread and a bucket of water sat.
He drank deeply of the water, but ate lightly, knowing that he'd get sick if he ate all of the bread.
There was scrape and a screech as the door to his cell opened. Dayus didn't look up. He knew who it was.
"I could spare you all of this. All of the pain, why will you not see yourself for who and what you are and lead at my side." The man asked, his deep voice booming in the cell.
"What you do is wrong. I will not help you take over villages of innocent people and watch as you do to them as you do to me."
The Black Flame's only reply was the sound of the door slamming shut and the bolt being put back into place.
Dayus sat on his knees in the darkness. He prayed to every god he had ever heard of to end his life so that he would not have to endure the pain day after day, but nothing happened. He lay back down and tried to rest.
Moonlight filtered through his barred windows. Something had awakened him. Something that sounded oddly like chimes.
It drew nearer and suddenly stopped. A snort sounded from the other side of the door. Dayus backed up in horror. His father had many creatures that kept his prisoners where they should be. He feared that this may have been one of them.
The door shuddered under a sudden impact. Dayus's heart leapt into his throat as the wood splintered. It shuddered once more and then fell inward.
Into the moonlight stepped a creature that was beautiful beyound words. He long silver mane glistened in the moonlight and her snowy white coat glowed.
"The gods sent you." Dayus whispered.
The equine-like creature took three steps forward. Bridle bells chimed with each step as did her silver hooves. She was too perfect to be a horse. Her eyes were set farther forward and she was sleeker than any racehorse he had ever seen.
She came to stand before him and lowered her head down to his level. She looked at him with eyes as blue a sapphire sea. Eyes that held Dayus as spellbound as his chains held him physically within his cell.
:I have come to free you. I Choose you. I bind you to me, heart, mind, and soul, never to be seperated even in death.:
With that she reared and her silver hooves came down upon Dayus' chains, breaking them, freeing him. He leapt to her back as he heard the eeri cry of his Father's beasts.
Vanya gave a scream of triumph before bolting out the shattered remains of the door and into the hallways.
