Obi-Wan stepped out of the conference room. His master had been sent to help negotiations with a board of senators from Corellia and its surrounding systems. The discussion was heated and debate grew stronger. Part of the irritation was because the Durosian senator was no where to be found. Obi-Wan wasn't good at negotiations like this anyway, his master would have to handle that. It was Qui-Gon who suggested Obi-Wan take a breath of fresh air anyway. He walked in the local park, it was night and no one was around. Even the Corellian Security was nowhere to be seen.

He studied the surrounding for what seemed like hours and was about to retreat back to the conference room. Whatever was happening in there had to be more interesting than outside. He was walking up the stairs to the conference room when he heard cries. He saw two figures fighting on a bridge above, both humanoid. One had the other by the neck and then released him; he fell to the river below. Obi-Wan shouted and the other man ran away.

He reacted without thinking, he was a Jedi, and he had to save the weak. He jumped into the river after the drowning figure. The cloudy night made everything dark, but he finally managed to find the being. He pulled him out of the river. From what he could make out the being was a Zabrak, the same species as Master Koth. The Zabrak coughed.

"Are you all right?" Obi-Wan asked.

The being stood up, he was shorter than Obi-Wan and Obi-Wan didn't like the way he appeared. The being grinned and as he grinned he revealed sharpened teeth like a Devaronians. The teeth combined with the horns made him look like a demon. But what Obi-Wan didn't like the most were his eyes, glowing yellow, a yellow that chilled Obi-Wan to the bone, but it could just be that he was wet on a cool Corellian night. Obi-Wan pushed his ghastly appearance aside, it was wrong to judge a being by their outside appearance. Obi-Wan was always taught not to go by outside appearance but by instincts.

"Yes, thank you Jedi." The Zabrak answered in a soft voice.

But his instincts didn't feel right either.

"Do you want me to call CorSec?"

"No, I'll be fine. I can take care of myself."

Normally Obi-Wan would have insisted, but he would be happy to part company with the stranger.

"What's your name?" Obi-Wan asked.

"They call me Maul."

"Well be careful Maul, and may the Force be with you." Obi-Wan said as a goodbye.

The Zabrak, who was walking away, turned around slowly. A grin on his face that made Obi-Wan feel uneasy.

"I'm sure it will."
