*Title: A Very Long Trip
*Rating: PG-13
*Pairing: If I gave you the pairing, it'd kill the suspense!
*Background: not much background on this one. Just a little angst!Aragorn tale that was in my head and I decided to write it down one day when I was falling asleep in class.
*Disclaimer: I don't own these characters, I'm just taking them for a little walk.

Legolas sits across the fire from me, talking animatedly with Boromir. His eyes are ablaze and his hands are moving wildly as he speaks. Suddenly he stops and glances at me. He must have noticed me staring at him. Our eye contact lasted less than a second but it felt like ages. Within that brief moment, it felt as though he had seen right into me soul. He turned back to Boromir and began talking again and I released the breath I'd be holding since he looked toward me.

I move to lay down on my blankets and Legolas and Boromir lower their tone. Their voices and laughter are barely audible through the blanket over my head. I roll onto my side and move the blanket just enough so I can see out an edge and gaze upon the object of my desires.

The fire has died down a bit and Legolas is bathed in its soft orange glow. I can no longer hear clearly what they're saying but I know they're still talking. They're always talking. The hardest part of this journey, for me, has been to watch these two become closer.

My gaze drifts across his entire form, from the very first strand of golden hair, to his soft travel-worn shoes. A soft breeze plays gently through his fine hair and I wish it were my hands. His tongue darts out to moisten his lips and I wish it were mine. I cringe as I watch Boromir tuck a few golden strands behind Legolas' beautifully pointed ear. Boromir's hand lingers there momentarilly and Legolas leans into his touch. Boromir leans over to whisper into his ear and Legolas inhales sharply as his eyes go wide. My stomach turns and I don't want to know what was said. Or done.

They stand and Boromir leads Legolas into some trees nearby. As I watch them leave hand-in-hand, I realize that this is going to be a very long trip.
