Lex sighed as he pushed open the double doors into the Talon. It was raining out
and the place was deserted save Clark, Chloe and Pete in a corner frantically going through
textbook after textbook.
'Finals...' Lex thought to himself. He'd never actually studied for an exam but
he'd heard it was usually quite intense. He spotted the counter and familiar dark brown hair
in a simple pony. He sat himself down on a stool.
"Good Afternoon, Miss Lang." He nodded his head. The girl spun and stared at him.
Lex gasped, "Im sorry, ma'am. I thought you were Lana."
"What else is new?" she rolled her eyes and turned back to whatever she'd been
doing.
Lex watched her from behind for a moment before deciding to say something, "I dont
mean to be rude but you look an awful lot like Lana Lang. You...could be her sister."
She glanced back, "Dont remind me."
Lex laughed, "Whats wrong with looking like Lana?"
"For starters," she turned and leaned on the counter, "I get alot of creepy guys
who hit on me as some sort of Lana substitute and secondly," she balanced her head on her
hands, "I have to put up with the Real Dim Baby which is a punishment all on its own."
"Lanas not thaaaat bad."
The girl smirked, "How'd you know I was referring to Lana?"
Lex shook his head, "Lucky guess. So whats your relation to Miss Teen Smallville?"
"Im her cousin. Her fathers sisters daughter. My parents are in Paris for the
summer. As a sort of, last attempt to rekindle their love before filing for the inevitable divorce."
"Im sorry."
She shrugged, "Not your fault."
Lex smiled. Now that he looked at her, she didnt remind him of Lana in the slightest.
She had more confidence, spark...and her hair was a bit lighter.
She stood, "So...can I get you anything?"
"Excuse me?" Lex stammered.
"Ya know, to uh...drink?"
"Oh. Oh yeah. um Large Decaf, please."
She grabbed a tray and twirled around towards the door to the back room, "Coming
right up!"
The bald man nodded. When she was gone, he got up and strode over to the chaotic
trio.
"Hello Clark. Miss Sullivan. Mr. Ross."
The blonde looked up, "Its Chloe and Pete, Lex."
He chuckled, "Of course. My apologies."
Chloe smiled and Clark motioned for him to sit down, "Whats up?"
"Oh nothing really..." Clark gave him *the look* and Lex sighed, "Alright. I was
just wondering what the deal is with Lana's cousin."
"Lois? Yeah. She's been here about a week. Came from Metropolis.
Staying the summer. Something about her parents. Lana hates her. Says shes impossible.
Whatever that means. Why so curious?"
Lex shrugged, "No reason."
"She's 18. Perfectly legal." Chloe chimed in without even picking up her head.
Lex glared at her, "I assure you, Miss Sullivan, my intentions are as innocent
and pure as yours toward, say, Clark for instance."
The reporters head shot up and Lex was granted with the "Chloe Stare of Death."
Just then, Lois returned with Lex's coffee.
"Well I'll see you around Clark. Good Day, Miss Sullivan, its been a pleasure as
always. Goodbye, Pete."
With that, he stood and made his way over to Lois who was intently leaning over a
green composition notebook.
'Looks like my summer just got interesting.'
