Getting Even

"Whoa!" said Declan as he read the e-mail from Miranda's brothers.

"Declan! You didn't.....check your e-mails today did you?!!!!" said Miranda breathlessly as she rushed into Declan's office. She looked at him. She could see the truth. "Oh no!" she said as she plunked down on the office sofa. "I am so sorry. I'm going to kill them! I hear nothing from them and then they do something this embarrassing!"

Declan just laughed. "Don't worry about it. It's gotta be tough having four older brothers. I think it's sorta sweet of them. Nice to know they're looking out for your best interests."

Miranda face suddenly turned into a mischievous grin. "I've got an idea."

Declan was suddenly worried. "Uh, Miranda...I don't think we should...um... You're brothers mentioned something about "visiting" me which I would rather avoid..."

But it was too late to convince Miranda. She had already shooed Declan out of his chair and started typing on his keyboard.

Declan read over Miranda's shoulder. "Miranda, you can't send that! I thought we'd agreed that we should wait for a more appropriate time to tell them about us..."

Miranda looked at Declan with a twinkle in her eye and gave him her most innocent face. "No time like the present. But it's only the truth. Well maybe I exaggerated a bit and speed up the timetable." Miranda clicked on the send button.

"Message has been sent."

Thank you for your concern, but there it no need for it. I'm going to do right by marrying your sister. I hear St. Thomas is beautiful this time of year. The wedding date will probably be within the week. I hope you and the rest of your family will be able to make it on such short notice.

Sincerely,

Declan Dunn
P.S.-Don't think of it as losing a sister. Think of it as gaining a brother.
