Title: Unpacking Author: Stephanie Honey Rating: PG Summary: Small ficlet about R/J after Rory returns from Washington. Spoilers: up until the season 2 final. Archived: June 26, 2002

Rory began neatly taking her cloths from of her enormous suitcase and laying them on her bed. Why did she always have to pack so much? She hadn't even worn haft the stuff in her bag. She figured it was because she was so like her mother. She pretty much packed her entire life when she when somewhere. She had a back pack stuff full with books, a small bag filled with her must have items and a ridiculously over sized suitcase she was now unpacking. It was near nine o'clock at night now and she was determined to get unpacked before she went to bed.

She had just got back from Washington and to her surprise it hadn't been that bad. She had talked to her mother once a day (sometime more) and although she had to put up with Paris and her nonstop panic attacks is was all in all a tolerable trip. She had had time to think and just get away from everything. She wondered what she was going to do about Jess. How would she explain the kiss to him when she still hadn't figured it out for herself? Would it be awkward between them now? And why did she want to see him so bad? A part of her was dreading the meeting. And the other part of her was eager to see him again. She thought about how it might go as she continued unpacking.

Just then she heard a small tap on her window. She then realized it mush be Dean. She hadn't even thought about seeing him but he had probably rush over when her hear she was back. She really didn't fell like seeing him now but she couldn't very well pretend she was not home now could she? She reluctantly put the blouse that was in he hand done on her bed and approached the he bedroom window. When she pushed the light curtains aside and opened the window she was surprised to find Jess standing before her.

"Jess! What are you.I mean. Why are you." Rory stuttered. Jess said nothing. He just wrapped one of his hands around the back of her neck pulling her down to him and the other come around her lightly resting on the small of her back. Life seemed to have press the slow motion button the few secants before their lips touched.

The kiss was nothing like the first. It was hard and passionate but it still had tenderness to it that Rory had never felt in a kiss before. She wished that this would never end. That it could go one forever and she would never have to part from his soft lips. But when she finally felt the need to breathe the kiss ended and Jess pulled back taking his hands from her body. "Welcome home, Rory", he said before tuning and walking in to the night.

Rory's fingertip light brushed her lips where Jess' had been moments before. She was in a total state of awe still when she walked over to her bed, moved her suitcase and clothing onto her desk and got into bed. She would leave the unpacking till tomorrow.
