A/N: Here's a teaser of the fic! It was actually going to be the first
chappy, but I'm too tired to write more, so this is all you get for now.
But I'll probably post more tomorrow. Now enjoy! And please R&R when you're
done! Thanx! ^.^
Silverwind tucked her head farther into the hood of her cloak, as the wind whipped snow into her face. She shivered, wondering where the k'Kriya Vale was.
//I HATE the cold.//
:.I agree with you fully! There is nothing I want more than warmth, and maybe a good rub-down..:
Silverwind managed a smile in response to Kadiri's reply. The dyheli was probably faring worse than Silverwind herself.
:.Any sign of the Vale yet?.: She mind-called to her bondbird.
:.Nothing.: Rei replied, mind-voice heavy with fatigue. Rei was a snow hawk, an extremely rare species, valued for their speed, agility, and pure white feathers. Despite her many attributes, the bird was not meant for prolonged scouting duty.
Suddenly, Silverwind was thrown forward, tumbling straight over Kadiri's head, just missing the cruel horns, and slamming into a snow bank.
:.Silverwind?.: Kadiri's mind-voice was laced with worry.
Silverwind groaned and propped herself slowly up, mentally checking for heavy damage. :.I'll survive. Mostly just bruises.:
Kadiri shook her head. :.Lucky that snow bank was there to break your fall!.:
Silverwind picked up a chunk of her landing pad. :.This isn't snow. This is ice! And what happened anyways?.:
Kadiri pawed the ground. :.I tripped on something under the snow..:
Curious Silverwind extracted herself from the snow, and crawled on hands and knees, over to where Kadiri paced. Feeling around, her gloved hand encountered a hard lump, under the layer of hardened snow.
:.Bondmate?.: called Rei, perching on an overhanging branch.
Silverwind waved a hand at her bondbird, intent on the task at hand. She tore off her gloves, and seized the nearest leyline. She thrust heat into her hand, until the icy snow began to melt away from the buried object.
A battered stone came into view, shining dully. Kadiri stepped forward. :.That's an opal.: Silverwind tried to pry it out. :.It's attached to something..: She pulled hard, and increased the heat, and the object finally pulled free.
:.What..:
Silverwind blinked. :.It's. a sword!.: She looked at it in OverSight, and was blinded by the aura of power on it. As she blinked the sunspots from her eyes, Kadiri looked at her with wide eyes, then looked at the sword. :.It must be a.A Relic!.:
Silverwind shook her head in shock and disbelief. :We're camping here tonight. This is a lot to think about..:
A/N: Well? Like it? Hate it? Tell me! Details appreciated!
