We all know the drill. I don't own Forever Knight and am just borrowing
the characters for a little while, and promise to put them back when I'm
done. Well, maybe. eg Special thanks go out to Judy F for Beta reading
and putting up with my very bad grammar. This can be archived at FK2 site,
Mel's, FTP site and all (NN sites) Feedback is very much welcome at
FancyKnight313@aol.com. So please be kind. If you don't see - the end - at
the bottom of the story, you don't have it all

What's with the Caddy
LK Parks
****************************
It had been a long muggy night as Nick and Schanke walked into the bullpen, Nick looking like Joe Cool, as Schanke wiped sweat from his brow complaining about the Caddy being old and not having air conditioning
Nick sat down behind his desk, looked at Schanke. "You have no reason to complain Schank, you're the one who would not let me put the top down. We would have had plenty of cool air then."
Schanke looked up from their paper work, " You are the only person I know who would ride with the top down with it lightning out and about to rain any minute. Nick, answer me one question, why do you keep the Caddy? And it can't be for the truck space."
As Nick was about to answer, Natalie Lambert walked up to their desks with a file in her hands. "Hey guys, what's going on?"
Nick turned and smiled at Nat. Schanke noticed this and turned to Natalie and explained that Nick was about to tell him why he keeps the Caddy. Nat looked at Nick with a raised eyebrow. "Oh really now, I thought it was for the trunk space, that's what I've always been told. So Nick, what is the other reason why you have kept the Caddy?"
Nick looked to Schanke and then to Nat, "You just came in from outside. Right, Nat? What was the weather like when you came in?"
Nat was about to answer Nick when Schanke stopped her. "Nick, you're trying not to answer the question. We are waiting for your response."
Schanke leaned back in his chair, putting his feet up on the desk
Nick got up from his desk, hands in his pockets, looked at Schanke and Nat. "I will answer the question once I get a weather report from Nat. So Nat, what was it like outside when you came in?"
Nat looked at both men before answering, "well it was a little muggy, not as bad as it was earlier. It cleared up. Not a cloud in the sky now. It is nice driving weather, why?
Nick smiled and pulled the keys to the Caddy out, looked at Schanke and replied "I love riding with the top down in almost all kinds of weather. Nat, would you like to go for a ride tonight with the top down? I'm now off shift and there's a few more hours till sunrise."
Nat grinned at Nick "Sure. I'd love to. Can we stop for movies, since we are both off tonight? Nick thought about it for a moment, "I have a better idea, we can get movies and Chinese take out for you also."
When Nick and Nat got into the Caddy, Nat asked," So, where are we going?" Nick started the Caddy and let her purr for a minute as he put the top down. "I thought we could drive down by the CN Tower and up and down Lake Shore Blvd, till the sun comes up. It's a nice way to start the summer off, don't you think?"
As they pulled away, Nat had a question." Nick, what is the real reason beside trunk space?"
Nick just grinned. "It's the closest thing to flying as I can get with out having to use the vampire to do so, and I can share this with you.
As Nick's tail lights faded from view, Schanke walked to his car to go home, shaking his head, "I'll never understand him. I'm glad I have air conditioning at home and in my car."
