As the sun sank behind the horizon, Angel felt his heart sink also. Him and Buffy had risked everything for their happiness, but in return, it had cost Buffy her life. It had changed her into a vampire, well, a super- vampire really, with the Slayer powers and vampire powers, she could defeat anything good.

He tried to find a way around what had happened, find Buffy's heart, but the spell had also effected him. The spell had actually worked in some ways, it had turned Angel human. Which put him in touch with some of his deeper emotions. Angel could now do everything he'd always wanted to do. During the day that is, only, without Buffy. He had to prevent Buffy from killing him and her friends somehow, he knew how the dark-mind worked, he had seen the dark-mind for so long, he knew how to stop the dark-mind altogether, the only thing he couldn't do was kill creatures of darkness. It was a mere human fluke if he ever did!

Angel started to feel dizzy, something was coming, he didn't know what now he was a mere human, but something was coming, he had to get out of here. And fast. He started to jog, jog, jog, run. He was running now as the first streetlight lit up. He got towards the end of the road and turned the corner. Buffy, what has become of you? He thought as his heart began to thud in his chest and he quickened his pace. What has become of us? What once was so great a tragedy, is now nothing. He was no match for any vampire so he stayed away from vampires. What he had been planning was that he go back to Ireland to live his final years in respect to everything he'd started there...and finished. He couldn't just leave it there and he hadn't been back since he turned.

Finally, Angel approached Giles' house and entered, he no longer had to be invited. He slammed the door and leant on it panting, realising the silence he turned around to see Xander and Giles staring at Angel with blank, mournful faces. Eventually, after a while of feeling the pain in their eyes, Xander said,

"She's got Willow."
