Stephanie still had feelings for him. For Hunter. Even though they
were divorced and he claimed to hate her, she could feel it. She felt it
last night. When she was talking to him. After that, when they were staring
into each others eyes. She could feel the chemistry just pouring through
them in a big fat puddle of emotions. She knew that he was still going to
be cruel. He had proved her correct when he leaned over to her and said
"Are you gaining weight?" He laughed and she got mad. Then he drove off in
his limo leaving Stephanie alone hurt and angry.
That was last night. Today it was Friday. She was stuck in board meetings all day long at WWE headquarters in Greenwich. She was looking forward to 7:30 tonight when she could go home and soak in a hot bubble bath. She was currently listening to a member of the board discuss the contributions of Rob Van Dam to the company. Scoffing to herself, she silently complained. I hate him she said. He is a horrible wrestler and a horrible person.
Not to say that she wasn't partial. Because she was. Because even though she was no longer Mrs. Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley she still liked to think that he was the best wrestler in the entire WWE. Even through all that had happened and all he had done to her he was still her favorite. She loved him with all of her heart and soul. With everything that she was and with everything that she had. And she would do anything to get him back.
So that's what she was thinking about. When she found out that there was a pretty good chance that HHH would be choosing Smackdown, she was ecstatic. Finally she would have a chance to prove that she and Hunter were meant to be. Or so it seemed.
Hours later she arrived at her house, tired and longing to soak in a nice hot bubble bath and wash all of her cares away. So that's what she did. And while she did she thought of all of the good times that she had with Hunter. She felt like crying because they were apart. Because they were not together. Because she had been such a fool for lying to him and not telling him the truth.
Even though she lied because she loved him, because she wanted to be with him it still wasn't right. She should not have toyed with his emotions like that. Telling him that she was pregnant with his child was selfish and irresponsible. All she wanted was the wedding that she thought that they needed. But it wasn't fair to Hunter or to anyone else for that matter. Because she would never get him back.
