Because I had nothing to fight for:

Albus Dumbledore watched as the green light of the spell from Severus come towards him. He glanced once at a petrified Harry Potter and saw the look of horror on his face. Even though Albus would have preferred Harry didn't see him being struck with the killing curse, there was nothing he could do. It was time to die and hopefully give Severus the perfect proof that he was really Voldemort's man, which would mean he could help more and maybe save more lives. He might not support the dark lord, but it would guarantee that Voldemort would believe Severus had not deserted him.

He was never scared of death, he just hoped he would never be put through torture before hand. As the curse hit him in the chest, he felt himself die.

Albus' eyes snapped open and even though it was dark, he could see fairly well. He was lying on the ground and when he glanced around, he shot up into sitting position. He was at the base of the astronomy tower, or what was left of the tower.

'I should be dead. Surely I didn't survive the killing curse and even if I did, I could not have survived a fall from the tower. I have to be dead and I'm seeing my worst fear, Hogwarts destroyed. But how?'

Albus got to his feet before looking around at everything, 'It's gone, Hogwarts is almost completely destroyed. There's only ashes left of Hagrid's hut and the forbidden forest. What happened?'

Albus listened but he could not hear anything or see a living person or creature. He carefully and quietly made his way in through the opening where the main doors of the castle once stood. There was bits of the doors and walls all over the place. He moved further into the entrance way and saw most of the walls gone or partly destroyed. He could even see the stars through the large gaps where the roof used to be. He was on the ground floor and there were seven floors before the towers, yet he was staring at the stars.

Albus decided to wait until the following day before venturing out to find out what was going on. He decided to find somewhere to rest and sleep. One thing he did notice as he walked through the ruins that had once been Hogwarts, his hand wasn't cursed. Albus knew a lot of magic, even some very rare and unheard of magic, but right now, he had no idea what type of magic could have been used to destroy Hogwarts.

The following morning Albus was able to make his way out on the ground and towards Hogsmeade. He saw again that everything was destroyed and realised if he wanted something to eat and a cup of tea, he would need to venture into a muggle town. He did a quick transfiguration on his clothes so they would resembled a man's normal black dress pants and a button down shirt. As he began walking, he realised he would have to do his shoes as well.

Albus had no money, wizard money or muggle money and even though he hated to steal, he cast a confundus charm on the woman at the cafe so he could get some food without having to pay. Once he returned to Hogwarts and ate, he found some old quills. He thought of writing everything down but every bottle of ink was either broken or empty. He left that idea and just decided to visit places like the ministry, St Mungo's and even the Burrow. He had to know what was going on. He knew he had to be careful but at least now he looked like a muggle and he had a full stomach, so he could concentrate in case there was danger.

It didn't take Albus long to realise there was basically no wizarding world left. The ministry was destroyed but that wasn't the worst that Albus saw. It was all the skeletal bodies. He had no idea what was going on or what happened to cause all these deaths, but he wasn't sure if there was a way to find out.

Over the following week, Albus would sneak into the muggle world and get himself some food. He ended up finding one of those big muggle supermarkets. He bought himself a lot of things he could heat with magic, along with tea, sugar and he also bought himself some muggle sweets. He found a perfect place in the ruins of Hogwarts. One of the old dungeon rooms that hadn't been used in hundred's of years, was stable. He found a bed that was in perfect condition, along with a few chairs and a table. The old room even had a fireplace. That helped Albus stay warm but also, he used an old cauldron to heat things he had taken from the muggle world.

It was took weeks after he woke that he decided to look around Hogsmeade, especially, the Hogs Head. The pub his brother owned. He basically already knew what he would find but he wanted to see for himself that his brother was dead. He had not found one magical person, all he found were bodies, lots and lots of bodies.

Albus found his brother's skeleton straight away. He decided to bury it on the grounds of Hogsmeade. He might eventually bury everyone but for now he needed answers.

Albus created a headstone made from one of the large stones that had been part of Hogwarts. He used magic to carve his brother's name. After saying good bye, he walked back into the ruins of Hogwarts.

Albus did work out that Voldemort must have won and that was why Albus never found Harry. If Severus was able to pass on the message to Harry, he would have gone to Voldemort. Albus was never sure if Harry would have survived, but his hope was that Harry would, only if Voldemort was the one to cast the killing curse. He had been concerned that Voldemort might be wary of casting the curse at Harry after what happened when he tried to kill Harry as a baby. He had found many death eater bodies and he had found Voldemort's wand next to some black robes with no body, he figured it was Voldemort. Harry wasn't anywhere near him. But again, if Voldemort won, how did he and his death eaters die? If they won, they killed people like the staff at Hogwarts and people who worked at the ministry. Even if the two sides kept fighting and killing, Albus knew there has to be some people left, but all he kept finding was bodies in ruins of any building that was linked to witches and wizards. He could not work out what happened, how everyone from both sides died.

Albus even found hundreds of house elf bodies, but also the skeletal remains of thestrals, centaurs, unicorns along with every other creature that had once lived in the forbidden forest.

Now Albus was settled into his hiding place in Hogwarts and cast the fidelius charm, he knew he would be safe. Once he had enough wards around the rooms he was using, he began to apparate all over the country to many different places that he knew witches and wizards had lived. He never found anyone, or any witch or wizard. One of the first places he went to was Grimmauld place. The house was gone. When he used legilimense on the muggles, he found out that the house had burnt down only a year after he should have died. When he went to the Burrow, he found that it was also gone, burnt to the ground.

When Albus was walking through what was left of Hogsmeade, he looked around hoping to see something that would tell him what happened. He saw in the distance a small house up on the hill. Albus remembered that hill, it was where Sirius had hidden in the cave so he could keep an eye on Harry but also stay out of sight.

'Hogsmeade was always a wizarding town and I know all the muggle repelling charms are still working. That means a witch or wizard must be in that house.'

Albus decided to watch the house for a few days, just to see who it might be. He would hate to be surprised by Voldemort or one of his supporters.

Albus sat eating the sandwiches that he had been able to steal from a muggle shop in Scotland. He went through the night and to different shops to gather food, there was always things like sandwiches or cakes left from the previous day. If he could take the time, he would stock up by going to a supermarket.

He was watching a small cottage to see if anyone might be in there. Albus had searched for weeks trying to find someone, anyone alive. There was no Hogsmeade, no Diagon alley, no ministry, no st Mungo's, just a lot of destroyed buildings and lots of skeletons. When he found this cottage, it made him curious as it was the only building on the outskirts of Hogsmeade that was not destroyed or damaged in any way. He decided to watch and hope someone lived there.

Albus did find out that the normal muggle repelling charms were still working in and around Hogwarts and Hogsmeade so he knew no muggle could have caused the destruction. He just could not work out who did all this and why. He also couldn't work out where anyone was. After searching the ruins of Hogwarts, he found skeletal remains and was able to tell from the clothing or hair who some were. He knew a lot of the dead were teenagers, which meant students. He also found most of the bodies of his staff. He found the body of Minerva close to a large group of dead students, very young students. He found many of the order of the phoenix. With the hair, he was able to find most of the Weasley's, Molly had her skeletal arms wrapped around her daughter's skeletal body. Albus knew Molly had died trying to protect her daughter. He next found Ron's body next to Hermione, but what worried him was Harry's body wasn't near his two friends. Those three were always together, if fighting started, Harry would have hurried to stay beside his friends.

It was the same everywhere he looked. At Diagon alley, he just found dead bodies. St Mungo's was again the same but most of those skeletons were still in their beds. The ministry had hundreds of skeletons. Even though Albus did not like to take anything that wasn't his, he realised he would need to until he found some survivors. He had been lucky to find many potions, some in the ruins of Hogwarts, some in the apothecary and some in St Mungo's. He also took a lot of ingredients in case he needed to make a potion.

He had been lucky to find ink, quills and parchment left in Scrivenshaft's. He began to write down descriptions of the dead people he found before he took wands from every person, along with any money or items the people had on them when he died. It was when he was levitating all the bodies against the walls inside what was left of the atrium in the ministry of magic that he saw what must have been the last Daily Prophet that had been printed. The date was just over three years after he had died but a week after the students returned to Hogwarts to begin their new year.

Albus realised the reason he found so many dead students at Hogwarts was because whatever happened, did a week after the students returned to the castle to begin their next school term. Reading the paper did give him some information, Voldemort had won to take over the ministry, Hogwarts, St Mungo's along with Diagon alley and Hogsmeade. There were lists of people that died trying to fight Voldemort and his death eaters. There were a lot of rules printed, rules Voldemort had made so only he and his supporters would ever have a life in the wizarding world. At least Albus read the truth about some of what happened and that Voldemort had control only a few months after he died. Albus just could not figure out how Voldemort and his supporters died when they had won and controlled everywhere.

Even though Albus was eating and drinking while watching the cottage, he could not stop thinking about all the people that died and how they died. How did their part of the wizarding world end up destroyed? He also could not find an answer to how he ended up a few years in the future and how he was alive. He had an idea of going to another country, to see if anyone there could tell him what happened. For now, he would wait and see if there was someone living in that cottages. If it was a muggle, then he would begin to apparate to other countries, starting with France.

As Albus reduced his rubbish to ash and banished it, something caught his eye. He looked up to see a white bird flying towards the cottage. Albus stood feeling excited, because that bird looked familiar. As it got closer, Albus saw the snowy owl that belonged to Harry Potter.

Albus decided it was time to find out if Harry or someone else was in the cottage. He knew seeing Hedwig did not mean Harry lived here or that he was alive. Hedwig would probably go to any witch or wizard that was working for the good side. Albus had to find out just who it was.

Albus cast a disillusionment charm on himself, he cast a silencing charm on his feet before slowly making his way to the back of the cottage. He looked in one of the windows to see a kitchen and he could see a few dishes on the side of the sink along with some fruit in a bowl. He saw Hedwig on a large stand in the corner. The stand had two bowls attached at each end. One for water and one for food.

Albus now knew by the bowls on the sink, the fruit in the bowl and how Hedwig was drinking some water out of her bowl that someone definitely lived here.

Albus knew if he opened the door that Hedwig would sense or smell him. He decided to find another room and enter through a window. He wanted to find out who lived here before they saw him.

Albus found two bedrooms, one he could tell wasn't being used, the other had a rumpled bed. He decided to climb through the window of the room that wasn't used.

Albus listened as he looked around. He saw a lot of boxes stacked against the wall. He found a bookshelf filled with books and Albus could tell they were magical books even without reading the spines. He could also tell that a lot of the books had once been in the Hogwarts library. He also noticed straight away that the books were magically protected. If a muggle looked into the room, they would see normal muggle books. Now he knew that someone magical lived here.

Albus found a lot of tin or packet food stacked against another wall along with many packets or jars of spices as well as flour, sugar, tea and lots of jars of coffee. He also found some shelves that was filled with potions vials and all were filled with different potions. Those were also magically protected.

He very quietly and carefully stepped out into a small hall. He saw the other bedroom then he saw a bathroom before continuing down into what looked like a living room. There was a large fireplace, a sofa and an arm chair along with some side tables. Those tables held books. But it was the chair that got Albus' attention. There was a person sitting in it. The person was facing the fireplace, which had a nice fire burning. Albus stared at the legs of the person and going on the shoes and trousers, it was man. Albus felt his pulse beat up as he hoped that this person was Harry Potter, or at least he hoped it was someone he knew.

The man stood, turned and his wand was pointed at the spot Albus was standing. Before he could draw his wand, he had been petrified. Albus stood there, unable to move as he stared at the face he had been hoping to see. Harry Potter petrified him and was now removing the charms he did before entering the house.

'You're supposed to be dead old man,' Harry flicked his wand, not to remove the petrifying charm completely but to remove it only on Albus Dumbledore's head, 'How did you find me?'

'I was looking for you Harry but I was looking for anyone that might have survived. I have been watching this place for a week before I decided to see if someone did live here. Can you tell me what happened Harry? Also, I think you can trust me, so please release the rest of me.'

'I don't trust anyone,' Harry flicked his wand again and four wands sailed towards him, only then did he remove the rest of the petrifying charm, 'I saw you go over the side of the astronomy tower after that death eater killed you. So how about you explain how you're here?'

'I asked Severus to kill me, at the right time. I was dying, due to the curse on my hand. Severus had not been a death eater since Voldemort decided to kill you.'

'He killed innocent kids, along with most of the staff of Hogwarts. He was cruel to many, torturing little kids, muggleborns. He tortured Arthur Weasley until he was a slobbering mess and made sure Molly watched. He tortured McGonagall and laughed as she screamed. That man was always a death eater but you were too stupid to see it. It was luck that I saw him one day, then I took great pleasure of killing that bastard but I made sure he suffered for hours before he died. If you try to defend anyone that was dark, leave now or I will kill you.'

'Something happened, something went wrong. But please Harry, tell me how our world was devastated? How did Voldemort win? Did you find the horcruxes?'

'No, Hermione and Ron found one before they ended up being killed by Draco Malfoy. Malfoy returned the locket horcrux to Voldemort. He realised you must have figured it out and collected them and hid them again. Dobby, my spy, never found out where. I realised something. First, there was no hope in finding them and second, there was no one I wanted to fight for. I decided to leave not long after I saw Ron, Hermione and the others die. I hid in the muggle world for a while, until I found this abandoned cottage.'

'Alright, but what happened? How did our world end up destroyed, along with everyone in it?'

'The muggles old man. Remember when I told you that they had technology that magic could not stop. Well, many of the muggleborns who had been driven away by those people like Fudge, Malfoy, Snape and others, they joined the muggle military. Those witches and wizards hated everyone in this world because of the way they were treated, so the military formed a new part, the magical military squad. They used the technology to find and destroyed every building that a witch or wizards used or lived in. The magical military squad was able to destroy the ministry and every person inside. I watched them and smiled as all those people died and the building destroyed. I did the same when they destroyed Hogwarts and Diagon alley. They never found me and this place is warded so magic doesn't show up here. If they detect any magic, they arrived within minutes and destroy the building and kill any witch or wizard they find. That's how they found Voldemort. He and his death eaters went on a rampage in the muggle world, killing thousands. They decided it was time to get rid of the magic users once and for all. I hope you haven't allowed them to find me. I mean I could probably make them believe I'm a muggle, but one look at you would show just what you are. I doubt you would survive. You might have transfigured your clothes into muggle clothes, but they are at least one hundred years out of date. It's also your hair and beard that will give you away.'

'Harry,' Albus sighed, so much didn't make sense, 'can I sit and talk, please. I'm really confused right now. Also, could I have a cup of tea please?'

Harry stared at the man and even though he wasn't sure what was going on especially how Dumbledore was alive, he finally figured both of them needed answers so he nodded then gestured to the sofa before he walked into the kitchen.

Albus went over everything he heard. He was shocked at how cold Harry was and what he said. He smiled when witches and wizards died.

Albus watched as Harry walk back in with a tray and placed it on the coffee table. Harry took a cup then gestured for Albus to help himself.

'How are you alive?'

'I don't know. I remember seeing the spell coming towards me. I glance at you, hoping to tell you that it was okay. I felt the spell hit. Then my eyes opened and I found myself lying on the ground under the astronomy tower. The moment I saw the destruction, I realised I would need to find out what was going on. It was only two weeks later that I found out that it's been three years since I...well, died. I have no idea how I'm alive or how I'm here. I've been spending my time trying to find someone, anyone that could tell me what happened. Tell me why you said what you said, that you smiled?'

'I realised that since I had a fucked up life with the Dursley's then at Hogwarts, there was no one I cared enough about to help. I was already leaving, I worked all that out for after your funeral. I never told anyone, I couldn't trust anyone. I snuck away before the students took the Hogwarts express home. Even when I found out that Voldy and his death munchers were killing, I just didn't care anymore. You're the reason I feel like this because you left me to be abused by those people then you allowed your pet death eaters to harass me. He lied so often about me yet you allowed him to get away with everything. You never punished the guilty so naturally they always believed they could do what they want. Draco Malfoy laughed as he tortured Ron and Hermione. He laughed as he told them how much of an old fool you were for ever trusting Snape or giving him second chances. You are a fool and thanks to the way you allowed all that to happen, the wizarding world ended up destroy. I hope you like what you see old man because you cause that, all of that.'

Albus sighed. He always knew Harry's life with the Dursley's would not be good but he never thought Harry would feel no one was worth saving.

'I am sorry for what you had to put up with Harry. I hoped Petunia would treat you as a son. She never did and even though I knew this, it was still safer for you to remain.'

'I got my revenge by killing the four Dursley's. I made Petunia watch while I tortured her precious Duddykins, then I killed Vernon and his bitch of a sister before I slit Petunia's throat.'

Albus sighed again, 'How did the muggles find places like Hogwarts?'

'Satellites,' When Harry noticed that Dumbledore looked confused, he went on to explain what they were and how they could find anything even with charms on places like Hogwarts, 'So you see, they weren't going to put up with people like Voldemort and Fudge allowing their people to die. They had their own witches and wizards who hated the wizarding world for how they were treated. The statute of secrecy had been no good since nothing could stop all the technology that is out there. If you do want to find people, a few escaped the country. There will never be a wizarding community in this country ever again. That was made law by the new prime minister, the government and the queen. Since I was raised in the muggle world, they just believe I'm like them,' Harry flicked his hair away from his forehead, 'I had that removed so I couldn't be recognised as the-boy-who-lived and when I go out I wear blue contact lenses. Now I just work part time, like any other muggle bloke. Tell me old man, have you been using magic?'

'Yes, not long before I decided to see who was living here. But also at Hogwarts, I was able to find an area I could use to live and stay warm. I cast the fidelius charm in case there were any supporters around.'

'When was the last time you were there?'

'I left Hogwarts at six this morning but I have been using magic every day.'

'They might be putting together another squad to storm the castle which is why they haven't turned up yet. They will though, they always do.'

'Do you have any suggestions that would help me until I can work out what I want to do?'

Harry stared at the man before him, 'The only thing I can suggest is for you to begin to look like modern day muggle man, an old man. Sure you can disillusion you wand but you will need to wear modern muggle clothes that would suit someone your age. Also, no one your age would have their hair or beard long like that. You may be able to ward the room you are using at the castle as long as it's not seen from the air and no one can find it. The fidelius charm should work for that since it's not seen from outside. Also, if you steal food to live, try not to use magic but if you do, leave quickly but do not return straight to Hogwarts or they will track you.'

'I saw a few caves, I might use those to cut my hair using magic but could you give me an idea how my muggle clothes look.'

'Your button down shirt just need a few changes, like the buttons on my shirt. But change the colour so it's blue or grey, something that doesn't stand out. Also, those shoes, they are so old fashioned. I can see you changed them from the ones you always wore but they are still about a hundred years old,' Harry pointed to his shoes, 'There average muggle shoes. But are you going to try to figure out how you're here when you supposed to have died three years ago?'

'I will try but after searching the ministry and Hogwarts, I realised all the books were gone. I went to the department of mysteries to see if there were any time turners there or information on them that could give me some information on how I ended up here.'

'I was able to get most of the books from Hogwarts, the restricted books along with all the advanced books that seventh years would use. If you change how you look and do not use magic, you can take some. I have them under the fidelius charm in a shelter under the house. But if no one turns up by late tomorrow night, it might be safe. It would be risky to go now so you can stay here for the night. Just no magic.'

'Thank you Harry.'

The following day, Harry went with Albus to one of the caves. He worked magic to make Albus Dumbledore more modern. He used magic to cut and style his hair. Instead of cutting his beard off completely, he just cut it until it was a more normal length, then tidied it up. He helped make the shirt and shoes more modern. The trousers just needed a small tweak. Once they were satisfied, they carefully used Harry's invisibility cloak to get a look at Hogwarts. So far, there was no one there. Harry wondered if the muggles had been and gone. If they didn't find anyone they might believe a witch or wizard was there but had already left. He decided for now, Albus would be best hiding with him. It would also allow Albus to use the books that could give him answers to how he was here. They did work on a story, in case anyone came calling. Albus was Harry's grandfather and Harry would make sure to tell whoever turned up that his grandfather was a bit eccentric or maybe just say he was senile.

Albus and Harry had been lucky. When they snuck back into Hogwarts, they found the pensieve, they also found some of Albus' books, which was still behind the wall in his old office. One thing both of them were pleased about, they actually found many potions that survived the destruction. Harry had snuck away a lot from the hospital before he escaped Hogwarts but he was never able to get to the old potions room. Now Albus could really research. He would have the memories of what Harry told him along with everything he knew. He wasn't sure if any of it would help now there was no wizarding world left. Harry didn't believe anything could help but he figured if Albus wanted to gather information, in the off chance he did end up alive and back in his real time, then he left the old man alone.

Harry did hope things could change he just didn't believe it was possible. He had no idea why Albus Dumbledore ended up in the future or why he was alive when he should have been dead. It gave Harry a small flicker of hope that the man just might find a way back and if he did, he may just be able to prevent all those people dying when the muggles felt threatened due to Voldemort and his death eaters.

Harry and Albus only saw each other during meals. They might be sharing the small cottage but Albus spent all his time in the room he was using, researching along with making sure he had all the memories from Harry to go with his own. Those would be needed, if he could find some way to return to his own time. Harry worked part time, he did still go to muggle towns, but he spent most of his time reading. He did read the magical books, which had been changed to make them look like muggle books. But with the wards he had placed around the property and far enough away that it would give him a lot of notice if anyone was coming near his home. He had been questioned once when the muggles took over, they did believe he was an orphan who liked to live in isolating. He also spun a story about seeing strange things and he wanted to be away, far away. He did work which helped the muggles believed that he was like them, just a normal young man trying to live his life.

It was almost a year since Albus woke up in the future and he was beginning to lose hope. No matter how much he researched, he could not find a way back to his time. He thought if there was a chance, he would make sure to change things, a lot of things, especially on some of his beliefs. Another thing Albus thought about was if he did find a way, which he was now beginning to believe he wouldn't. He wondered what time he would return. Would it be enough time to stop what happened or could he go further back to stop Voldemort before he was even born. All those thoughts kept going through his mind. He might be losing hope, it didn't mean he would stop. He had to find a way, he just had to.

It was almost another year that had passed when Albus had finally begun to believe he was stuck. He had been thinking of heading overseas, just to find out if some other country could help, some other countries unspeakable. He went to bed wondering what he should do. Should he stay with Harry and just live out his life or should he go to another country and hope they could help him get back to his own time. Another thought came to him which left him confused as well. If someone was able to send him back, would he be alive or would he be dead. That thought made him wonder if it was worth trying. Then as he looked down at the ruins of Hogwarts he knew he had to try to fix things, if it was possible. He decided to give it a bit more time then he was going to head overseas in the hope some witch or wizard there could help.

Albus awoke and the first thing he noticed was he wasn't in the bed he had been using at Harry's home. He quickly stood and realised he was dressed, in his usual robes. He also had his long hair and beard. He glanced around and noticed he was in his old bedroom at Hogwarts, yet it looked like it had just before that night on the astronomy tower.

Albus realised somehow he had returned, yet he was alive. He had no idea how it happened. He went to bed the night before thinking about finding someone overseas to help him. Now he woke up in his own time and everything was back the way it used to be.

Albus knew he needed information. He hurried to his office and smiled when he saw Fawkes but also that his office was how it was the last time he saw it. He noticed it was dark, so he use magic to check the time. Once he knew the time, he checked the date.

'This must be it. Hagrid would be picking up Harry right now. I can change this and make sure the future he just came from never happened. First is bringing Harry here, raising him here, until I can find Sirius. It's time Harry have the life he should have had. Now I know just how powerful Harry is, he can help make this world better. It's also time to get the goblins to help with the horcruxes.'

Albus realised he had so much to do but Harry was the main priority right now.

He sent his patronus to Hagrid so the big man knew to bring Harry to Hogwarts and to Poppy. She would look after him until he returned. He had to find Sirius before he found Peter.

Harry had told him everything Sirius mentioned about when he found Peter. From the time he gave Hagrid his bike, he went looking for Peter. Albus hurried to Godric's hollow, he was lucky. Hagrid had just left but Sirius was sitting beside James' body.

'Sirius, we need to go and work on where Peter is.'

'How did you know Peter was the secret keeper?'

'I worked it out once I realised the wards had been breached. I know you would never do anything to harm James, Lily and Harry. He's at Hogwarts now, I'm having Poppy check him over then look after him. He is going to need you Sirius, he lost his parents, you are the last of his family. You and I can work together to find Peter and get him to Amelia Bones. I need to ask, is there anything written that proves James changed the secret keeper from you to Peter?'

'Yes, he added it to his will. He had me place a copy of his will in my vault then had me place his will and Lily's will in their family vault. Once the goblins saw the letter, signed in blood and I had the key, they realised I was there for James. We have to remove their bodies Albus, now.'

'We can do that. Some will want to go to their funeral so for now, we can take them to Hogwarts and place them under a stasis charm. Peter is our main priority, along with stopping the other death eaters from going on a killing spree.'

'Alright. I'll go levitate Lily down but I'll pack some of Harry's clothes and toys as well.'

'I'll created a portkey to Hogwarts.'

Albus was pleased he had found Sirius and the young man was listening to him. Now they just had to stop some of the other attacks, like on the Bones family and the Longbottom's. He was going to bring them to Hogwarts, at least for now, until they could work on some better wards. There was people at the ministry that was working in the floo department but also someone who worked in the wards department that was giving information to Voldemort. They needed to find those people. This time though, Albus was going to demand everyone be questioned using veritaserum.

After speaking with adult Harry and going over his own memories, Albus realised he should have been tougher after Voldemort fell. Lucius Malfoy ended up in the perfect place to fill the ministry with death eaters just because they didn't use veritaserum. It would not work this time. Most are already arrested, now was the time to give them a trial with the truth potion. He was also going to use the potion on Severus. After hearing what Harry told him about what Severus did, he had to know for sure if Severus was really dark or if he was forced. Albus would use his power and reputation to make sure their world didn't end up like he had seen in the future.

Albus still had no idea how he got to the future when he should have died. He had no idea how he returned to the night Harry received his scar. He will always be curious but he wasn't going to let that stop him from preventing such a disaster.

After Poppy said Harry was fine, a little drained on his magical core, Albus gave Sirius and Harry an unused staff quarters for them to use. Once they were settled, he left Hogwarts again and went to speak with the Bones family and the Longbottom's. Both of those families knew Albus had spies, so they believe him when they said they were in danger. The two families were also given staff quarters, but enlarged ones for the extra people. He gathered some of the order, then they went back to the Bones home. That place was hit in the early hours of the morning after Voldemort vanished.

Albus did shock the members of the order when he told them to use lethal force. It was time those that killed paid the price of taking innocent lives. He handed all of them a letter from Albus, the chief warlock, saying they had permission to use lethal force on death eaters.

Albus still believed in second chances but he also listened to Harry when he said death eaters were cruel and liked to kill and torture. They believed they were doing the right thing and it was their right. Those people didn't deserve a second chance.

Organising the Wizengamot and the minister for the trials was easy. The moment each captured death eater was brought in, they were given veritaserum. Apart from hearing how they wanted to join Voldemort and took the dark mark willingly, they were told to tell all the crimes they committed.

Many of those death eaters were instantly sent through the veil, which was another one of Albus' suggestions. Only a handful was sent to Azkaban. Bellatrix Lestrange was sent through the veil after hearing all her atrocious crimes. Her husband and his brother along with Lucius Malfoy was also sent through the veil.

It was a hectic month after the fall of Voldemort but at least now all the dangerous death eaters were gone. He next issued a new law, all employee's of the ministry of magic was questioned using veritaserum. They found over a hundred supporters of Voldemort. They might not be marked, but the had been helping him in the hope he would win. Now Albus knew that the people inside the ministry were not supporters of Voldemort or the dark arts.

After all that was sorted out, Albus spoke with the goblins to explain about the horcrux that was hidden inside their bank. The goblins would see this as being forced to support Voldemort. Since Albus brought in a law that all death eater vaults would be confiscated, until all family members were questioned, the goblins gave Albus permission to enter the vault and get the goblet. After that, he had Mad-eye go with him to get the ring. He left them hidden in his office while he got the diadem from the room of requirement. He planned to visit Malfoy manor to get the diary, but he had time. Lucius went through the veil, Narcissa was sent to Azkaban. Andromeda, Narcissa's sister took custody of Draco. He would be raised by a muggleborn so he would know blood made no difference. He did have Sirius open his family home. Albus just gave the excuse that it could be used as a safe house, if needed so Albus just wanted to inspect the place. He found the locket straight away. He knew thanks to the books Harry saved, he could remove the horcrux from behind the boy's scar. The snake wasn't a horcrux at this time, so the moment he got the one out of Harry, all the horcruxes would be gone. Albus read that since Voldemort was spirit, the moment his horcruxes were destroyed, his spirit would finally cross over. That would be the end of Lord Voldemort, for good.

When Minister Bagnold retired, Albus made sure that Cornelius Fudge did not end up minister for magic, nor Bartemius Crouch. He backed Amos Diggory to be minister. No one would go against Albus Dumbledore.

During this time, Sirius was learning to raise his godson with the help of Alice Longbottom and Sharon Bones. Neville, Susan and Harry were now very close. They were only waiting for word from Albus that said they had captured or killed all of Voldemort supporters. Once they heard that, they planned to move back into their homes. Sirius was going to buy a new home for him and Harry. He would make sure the house was connected to the floo so Harry would still be able to visit his friends.

Sirius had been surprised when Albus volunteered to look after Harry while Sirius went to find a home. He figured it would be easier on Sirius and give him time to find the right place if he didn't have to worry about a baby.

Sirius planned to leave for a few hours every day until he found the right place to make a home for him and Harry. Albus planned to remove the horcrux from behind Harry's scar the moment Sirius had left Hogwarts. He would put Harry into a deep sleep before giving him the potion and casting the spell. Harry would have pain when he woke but Albus had a potion to help the baby with the pain but it was a potion meant for children so Albus knew Harry would be fine.

Albus stared around at the students at Hogwarts, along with the guests who would be leaving the following day. He finally felt that they had a world that was safe. Even though Harry did survive the killing curse, this time he did not tell anyone what happened. He allowed people to believe that James and Lily were the ones that was able to destroy Voldemort, which protected their son. Albus did tell Sirius that he found an old healing spell that was able to remove a cursed scar so they did not have to worry that someone will find out that it was really Harry that killed Voldemort.

This time around, Harry would not be the-boy-who-lived. Harry Potter would just be a normal boy.

Time skip:

It was Harry's tenth birthday and all his friends were invited to a big party Sirius was given his godson. Albus, Poppy and the rest of the staff from Hogwarts was also invited, along with some ministry officials that were friendly with Sirius and Remus, who now lived with Sirius and Harry.

Albus smiled down at Harry when the boy asked if they could talk alone for a minute. Albus wasn't sure what a ten year old wanted to say in private but he indulged the boy.

Harry led Albus outside and down towards the back of the property, far away from everyone.

'I woke up this morning with a lot of memories,' Harry stared up at the man, 'I remember it all, yet none of that happened.'

'I have actually been keeping an eye on you in case something like this happened Harry. I wasn't sure if it would but since I was able to go into the future, then return to our past, I believe whatever it was that helped me, decided you should know the full truth as well. I took every bit of information you told me to make sure those death eaters finally paid for the crimes they committed. I also removed and destroyed all the horcruxes. I did that within the first couple of months, after the trials.'

'From when I woke up, I knew I felt different, better than I used to. So you finally got tough on everyone?'

'I thought I was doing the right thing but as I told you Harry, sometimes my mistakes can be big. Once you told your story, I knew things had to change if I was able to get back.'

'How did you work it out, to come back?'

'I didn't. As you know, I kept researching but I was beginning to lose hope. It wouldn't stop me trying to find a way even if I had begun to believe there wasn't anything I could do. I was about to start on my plans to head overseas to see if anyone there could help me. Then one night I went to bed in your spare room, I woke up in my bed at Hogwarts and it was the night you received your scar. I believe there is some type of higher power, higher magical power that did this, to help me save the world, our world.'

'I believe you're right. Now I have to act like a ten year old kid, even if I am, but my memories are of a twenty year old. I just hope I don't give anything away. No one can know any of this.'

'No, the two of us will be the only ones that know the truth, of what could have been. We're both used to keeping secrets Harry so I doubt we will have trouble keeping this one.'

'I believe you are right...Albus,' Harry grinned, 'I should say professor so no one gets suspicious.'

Albus laughed, 'Yes, I believe that is best Harry. If there is anything that either of us need to know, I will work on a way for us to speak without others around. But I truly believe it is all over and we will never have to worry about that life ever again.'

'I think you're right. But like I did before, I will keep my eyes open.'

'I will do the same. Now how about we rejoin everyone for your party.'

'Yeah, it's time to celebrate,' Harry said then walked back towards the house with Albus Dumbledore. It was time to join the party but it was also time for Harry and Albus to put those terrible memories in the past, where they belong.

The end:
