A perfect way to spy

Harry Potter spoke with his friends, in private and told them what Dumbledore believed, that Voldemort would return one day. They believe the headmaster was right, especially after Harry saw his spirit possessing Quirrell.

What Harry was concerned about was how bad their education was when they had rotten teachers in defence, yet they weren't learning anything that would help them against death eaters in any of their other classes.

At first, Hermione tried to defend the teachers but between Harry and Ron, they got her to see the truth. If Albus Dumbledore knew Voldemort would return, why hasn't he had the students learning more spells that could protect them. He is admired by most people yet he couldn't seem to find a decent teacher for defence, nor have Flitwick and McGonagall teaching them more spells that could protect them or spells that would help in a fight.

Even though Harry, Hermione and Ron were trying to figure out how they could learn more without a teacher, they heard about the first attack inside Hogwarts. A muggleborn girl had been beaten until a dozen of her bones had been broken. It was only a week later that it happened again, and again, it was a muggleborn but a boy this time. He had a cracked skull along with other broken bones.

After four different severe attacks on muggleborns, Harry knew it was time to do more than the teachers were doing. He knew it was time to utilise his animagus to find out who is attacking these young students and how they seemed to get away before anyone finds the students that had been hurt.

Over the following week, Harry would make his friends think he needed time alone. He had told them his reason, which wasn't true but he needed a way to be alone so he could change into his animagus. They believed he was still upset that he lost the chance of having a good home life with Sirius, so he was once again stuck with people he hated, that he wished were dead. Harry said that because he knew eventually Hermione would not be able to help herself, she would tell a teacher, probably McGonagall, who would then tell the headmaster. He also knew that the portraits would relay stuff they heard to the headmaster. Harry wanted Dumbledore to believe he wanted people dead, even people like his so called family. It might show the headmaster that making him return to the Dursley's was a mistake. It was making Harry harder, making him to be someone that would happily see someone that was supposed to be family, dead. Harry didn't care either way, now he was an animagus, he got as much free time as he liked and was able to always get food, whenever he wanted. No more would have to put up with being locked up or starved.

Harry and Sirius kept the truth from everyone so Harry wouldn't be forced to remain with the Dursley's all the time. They would only explain if anyone in the wizarding world found out that Harry only became an animagus so he wouldn't be continuously locked up and starved.

Harry slipped his invisibility cloak on, left Gryffindor tower and moved quietly through the castle. Once he knew there was no one around, nor any portraits, he put his cloak away in his pocket and transformed. He flew until he got inside the Slytherin common room. He wasn't positive that it was the Slytherin's, but they were the most vocal against muggleborns. He figured he would start with the snakes then he would listen to the students from other houses.

Harry sat on the rafters listening to the people like Draco Malfoy, Pansy Parkinson, Millicent Bulstrode, Gregory Goyle, Vincent Crabbe and Theodore Nott.

Harry did keep an eye on all the other Slytherin's but he mainly listened to the group sitting near the fireplace.

After two hours, Harry thought it was time to go but he was disappointed that he didn't hear anything. The group never mentioned the attack at all. Harry was sure it was them and somehow Snape was the one helping them by making sure it was known they were in the common room during the attacks.

Harry hopped along the rafter and was just about the fly out through the small hole in the top of the wall when Parkinson began to laugh. Her laugh was soft to begin with, before she ended up laughing so loud that everyone glanced at her.

'I really love hearing the crack of that mudbloods bone.'

'We all did Pansy, but keep it quiet. Not everyone in Slytherin feels the same as we do. They might overhear you.' Millicent said.

'Snape won't help them when he knows what we're doing.'

'What if they go to the mudblood lover. If they showed a memory of hearing us talk about this, we'll all end up expelled.'

'Say it was the ravens, since they did help. No one saw us, but many saw some ravens not far from where the mudbloods were found.'

'They might be on our side with the mudbloods but its who will have the proof of who did it. So no more speaking about it until we know we're alone,' Draco scowled.

'Fine, but when are we dealing with the next lot?'

'Thursday night. I heard the boy talking about following Potter to quidditch practice.'

'What about the mudblood bitch, I want to make sure she'll never recover.'

'We can do them at the same time. She always goes to the library when they practice. We'll split up, you do the bitch mudblood with some of the claws and Milly, we'll do the boy.'

Harry listened for another twenty minutes while the group worked on their plans. Now he had to work on his own plans to deal with those people who were deliberately hurting students but also Snape who was protecting them. He might be upset with Hermione but he didn't want her hurt, she was a friend no matter how annoying she got. It was time to put a stop to these people, for good.

Harry returned to Gryffindor tower just before curfew. He sat in front of the fire place but made sure he looked depressed. Sirius and Harry had spoken a lot when he snuck into the Dursley's house to help Harry with his animagus. After Sirius heard how the Dursley's treated his godson, he decided it was time to do something. First was Harry was now going to stay with him, even if he was in hiding. The second was the make sure the Dursley's could never be considered good guardians again for Harry. Sirius might like to help the innocent but he knew these people were not so innocent. The imperius curse was used and the Dursley's were seen damaging property along with steeling. The boy, who liked to beat up Harry, was seen using muggle drugs and steeling. He also made sure to deal with the sister of Vernon who allowed her dog to bite Harry. Sirius made sure those people were out of Harry's life, for good.

'Alright mate,' Ron said as he sat beside Harry.

'As good as it's going to get. I might head to bed, I'm knackered.'

Ron watched Harry walked away but he noticed that Hermione was watching Harry as well. Ron had explained to Hermione about when he and his brothers rescued Harry and how he was being starved. Harry finally had a chance a good person who Harry thought of as family, to take him and had that chance taken away from him. Not just because Sirius was thought to be a criminal but because Dumbledore made Harry return to the Dursley's. They had seen the changes in Harry the previous school year and he was the same again this year. Harry spent more time alone and hardly any with them, apart from in class or in the great hall. They weren't sure what they could do to help. Ron couldn't talk to anyone in his family to get advice since no one was supposed to know about Sirius. Hermione on the other hand wrote to her parents to explain about Sirius and because he had to go into hiding, her friend seemed very depressed, yet he wasn't getting any better.

Harry knew he could never tell anyone that he was now staying with Sirius, or that his godfather had made sure the four Dursley's were arrested. Sirius also made sure that when they were being arrested, they attacked the police. Sirius didn't want the police injured, but he wanted the police to see just how dangerous and violent the four Dursley's were. Now they were in jail. As far as Sirius and Harry believed, they were where they belong.

Harry wrote his letter, then put it away until he could go see Hedwig in the morning. He had to let Sirius know that he finally found out the names of the people attacking students and the reasons. It was a lot of the pure-bloods that were attacking muggleborns because those muggleborns were showing they had power and they were smart. The pure-bloods didn't like being shown up by a mudblood.

The following evening when Harry said he wanted to be alone, Ron waited until Harry left before he grabbed Hermione's hand and pulled her out of the common room.

'What are you doing?' Hermione scolded.

'We're following Harry. I just have to know he's okay Hermione.'

Hermione sagged, 'I wrote to my parents. I figured since they were muggles, it couldn't hurt to explain about...Snuffles and Harry. They said if this goes on too long, Harry will just get worse. How can we help though when no one will listen to us about…him.'

'I don't know if we can do anything about...him but we have to make sure Harry doesn't stay with those people anymore. I mean, he's allowed to go to the Burrow for weeks, why not for the entire holiday. I know it doesn't really make up for him having someone like family but it's better than those people. We can talk about this later, let's see where Harry goes.'

'And how do we do that when we know he uses his cloak?'

Ron lifted up the marauders map, 'I took this from his trunk right after we got back from dinner.'

Ron and Hermione didn't have to search long before they found Harry's name. He was on the astronomy tower. They walked quietly through the castle and up the stairs to the tower. They didn't want Harry to know they were following him but they just had to make sure he was fine.

Hermione and Ron didn't know it but ever since Harry became an animagus, his hearing increased. He heard two lots of footsteps so he made it seem like he was just going to sit after standing at the railing. He saw through his hair that it was Ron and Hermione and he could tell they looked worried. It made Harry sigh because he knew his friends cared but he just couldn't tell them what he was doing. They didn't like these attacks but they still believed in the teachers. Harry hasn't trusted any of the teachers since his first year. It was why he came up with the idea to make them believe he was just upset because he wanted to live with Sirius. He used the astronomy tower when he did want time alone and he knew sooner or later his two friends would follow him. It's why, at certain times, he left the map in the trunk. This way when those people who were attacking the students got attacked, Harry would have his friends say that Harry was on the astronomy tower. With his animagus, he could easily fly up there right after he had finished and it would look like he had been up there for a while.

Hermione and Ron watched Harry for a while before they went back to the common room.

'You know Hermione, maybe your parents could help with...Snuffles?'

'How would they be able to help when they're muggles?'

'They could write to the muggle prime minister and explain that...he was innocent and how he never received a trial. They could write how the minister for magic took the advice from a death eater who was unconscious at the time. It might not help but it could.'

'Yes, it could but it could also get me in trouble Ron. If by some luck the muggle prime minister read the letter, he may contact Fudge and he would find out how the muggle prime minister knew about one of them.'

Ron sagged, 'Yeah, sorry, I didn't think of that. I don't want you or your parents in trouble. Even if the muggles could help, they would need proof. It's not like they have pensieves or veritaserum.'

'No, they don't. I think...he would be best going to another country and have them try to listen to him. We're the only country that uses dementors, other countries have magical suppressant jails to hold criminals.'

'But that could make Harry worse, if he leaves and especially if they chucked him in jail.'

This time Hermione sagged, 'You're right, it would be too risky.'

'What about having...him try to look different. Harry mentioned those lens things. We use magic to dye our hair, you mentioned that packet stuff that girls use.'

'Well, yes, there is a lot of muggle ways to make yourself look different. It would stop anyone like us from uncovering his real look since it wouldn't be done with magic. You know, I might write to him with some suggestions. It could mean he could turn up at the Dursley's and take Harry out every day. They could stay out somewhere until late or even stay away for days at a time.'

'It's the best we can do and no one will know Harry's not staying with those people. We could tell Harry just to live with...him but keep it a secret. But I had a way that your parents might be able to help. Maybe they could dig up some stuff on the Dursley's.'

'Well, yes, they could, then let the police know but anonymously. Either way, Harry will be with him and away from them, but they might just get in enough trouble that no one would ever allow them to be Harry's guardian. We'll talk to Harry about just living with him, but I won't mention my parents until I know if they find anything.

Since Harry knew his two friends were worried about him, he decided to spend a little more time with them before he dealt with those people. So for the rest of that day, Harry sat with them while they did their assignments. He was surprised when both of them told him he should sneak away from the Dursley's and stay with Sirius. They also said that he should not tell anyone. Harry couldn't help smiling then thanked his friends. But again, Harry was also working on sneaking away. He told his friends he wanted to be alone until it was time for quidditch practice, but he was also going to think about contacting Sirius so they could find somewhere to live. They just nodded as he left the common room. Harry knew they believed he was heading to the astronomy tower again but this time he kept the map on him just in case they decided to follow him again.

Harry sat in the rafters so he could see Colin and follow him. He just hoped he had enough time to get to Hermione before Parkinson got to her.

Hermione walked passed first…

The moment Colin walked past, he flew a little ahead. He spotted Malfoy along with Nott, Goyle and Crabbe. Just as Colin was about to turn into the next corridor, Harry stunned him. He changed back into his bird animagus and flew above the four Slytherin boys. It was then he noticed two other boys were there, two Ravenclaw boys. It was time to deal with them, once and for all.

Harry was cutting his time close by the time he flew up to the corridor leading to the library. He saw Parkinson, Bulstrode along with Chang and Edgecombe from Ravenclaw. Harry had already stunned Hermione and put her in the transfiguration classroom. Harry knew she would be safe in there. Now it was these girls who would going to find out that there are always serious consequences to attacking innocent people.

Harry flew as fast as he could to the back of the castle. He had left his broom there earlier, now he just had to give himself a few minutes so he didn't seem out of breath.

'You're late Harry,' Oliver said.

'Sorry, lost track of time.'

'Where were you?'

'Astronomy tower.'

'Leave it…' Fred began.

'Oliver,' George finished.

'We'll explain…' Fred said.

'...later,' George finished.

The team began their training and even though Harry was acting depressed, he couldn't help smiling as he flew around the pitch. He might be able to fly as an animagus and it was the best feeling in the world, he still liked flying his broom.

They only just started their training when Lee hurried onto the pitch and waved them down.

'What does your Lee want?' Oliver asked.

'We'll find…' Fred began.

'...out,' George finished, then the twins aimed their brooms down.

Within minutes the twins waved the rest of the team down, 'What's going on?' Oliver asked.

'We have to return to Gryffindor tower. There has been an escalation on the attacks,' Lee said.

'No one died, did they Lee?' Harry asked and did a good job at sounding upset.

'Not that I know of but I wasn't filled in on exactly what happened. I was told to get you all back to the tower.' Lee said giving Harry a kindly smile, who smiled back. 'We're to keep our wands ready and stay together until we're back in the tower.'

The moment the quidditch team entered the room, Ron hurried over to Harry.

'Hermione was taken to the hospital, Colin as well.'

'Two more muggleborns,' Harry said going to sit in his usual seat, near Neville. Ron sat beside him, 'Is there any news on how they are?'

'They'll be okay but that's all we were told.'

'I found out that Colin was found unconscious in the room all the first years go to before being sorted,' Neville said.

'The others had things like broken bones,' Ron said.

The three boys fell silent but they could hear all the other Gryffindor's talking about the attack. So far no one seemed to know that some Slytherin and Ravenclaw students would now be in St Mungo's or about to be transferred there, due to having their minds destroyed, nor that Snape would also be in the same condition. Only Harry and Sirius knew the truth.

'You know, maybe because the dementors were here last year, it's making people crazy,' Ron said.

'You could be right. There's always fights but nothing like what is happening now,' Harry said.

'It started from the moment we got here and the dementors were here until near the end of the last term, that's not long ago,' Neville said.

No one could talk about anything else except the attack. When Lee walked back into the common room Harry got up and hurried over to him. Ron and Neville following.

'Do you know if Hermione and Colin are going to be okay?'

'Yes, Professor McGonagall said they were fine. All that happened to them was they were stunned and left in different rooms. It was others that were seriously attacked but I wasn't told who or how bad they are and we couldn't find out any more.'

'Thank you Lee. We've been so worried,' Harry said.

'Yeah, thanks Lee,' Ron said.

'Um, even though this is all terrible, will we be eating dinner here or down in the great hall?' Neville asked.

'Right now, all the students have to remain in their house rooms. I'm sure our head of house will tell us before dinner time.'

'Thanks,' Neville said then the three boys went back to their seats.

Harry acted worried but he was wondering when they would be told about those Slytherin and Ravenclaw students and if they would be told about Snape.

It was just before dinner time when Professor McGonagall stepped into the Gryffindor common room. All the students fell silent.

'As I'm sure you know, there has been some more attacks. Miss Granger and Mr Colin Creevey are both fine but Madam Pomfrey is keeping them in the hospital overnight. They were not the only ones who were attacked, six Slytherin students and four Ravenclaw students were also attacked. They have been taken to St Mungo's. There is more. Professor Snape was also attacked, he is also in St Mungo's. There are a squad of aurors here along with Madam Bones investigating these attacks. All students will be questioned and your wands examined. You can have either me or your parents with you during questioning,' Minerva stared down at Neville, 'If you would like your grandmother with you, we can arrange that Mr Longbottom,' Neville nodded. 'Mr Potter, since your guardians are muggles, I will be with you during your questioning, the same with any other with muggle parents. Right now, with the aurors investigating, you are not to leave the tower. House elves will be delivering food here very soon.'

Everyone stayed silent until their head of house left before they began talking.

'Fred, George,' Ron called. The twins sat near their younger brother, 'Why would they be checking our wands?'

'They will find out…' Fred began.

'What spells you've used recently,' George finished.

'It's called priori encantatum, the reverse spell affect,' Lee said, 'It will show up the spells you used, in reverse order. They normally keep the spell on until around ten spells are shown, but with some criminals, they will go up to fifty spells,' Lee explained.

'So my wand will show things that I learnt in class since I haven't used it apart from class,' Ron said.

'I'm the same,' Neville said.

'And mine will show class spells along with cleaning spells used for broom,' Harry said.

'That's basically…' Fred began.

'...what all our wands will show,' George said.

'If they were bad enough so they were sent to St Mungo's, then it wouldn't be spells we learnt in the classroom,' Lee said.

Everyone seemed fine with being questioned. Harry wasn't worried, not when Sirius was able to get him another wand, which was down the back of the quidditch stadium, in a box and buried. Harry put it there after he used it on those students. It was Sirius who explained that wands can be examined to see what spells had been used when he first handed Harry the other wand.

'You know what pisses me off though,' Harry said, 'four muggleborns had been attacked, had broken bones, yet no aurors turned up. Now some others and most I would say are pure-bloods since most of there were Slytherin's. Aurors are here investigating. Where were they when Sally and the others were attacked?' Harry growled.

'We get you there Harry,' Lee said.

'Just don't go aggravating…' Fred began.

'...the aurors with that question,' George finished.

'You know none of us think like that Harry but we also know that Fudge is friendly with Malfoy,' Ron said.

'You can't argue with those people,' Neville said.

Harry sagged, 'Yeah, I know, but it still pisses me off. Do you three know what's happening with the triwizard tournament?'

'I heard Flitwick talking to sprout about it being cancelled. They were talking about contacting the other schools so they would know,' Lee said. 'It could cause trouble for our ministry if another countries student got attacked while staying here.'

House elves began popping in with food, already set up on a large table in the corner. Apart from food, there was water, tea, milk and pumpkin juice. The same thing was happening in the other three houses.

That night, everyone was wondering when they would be questioned, yet no one had been summoned. By the time everyone began to drift off to bed, they realised they wouldn't be questioned until the following day.

It was the following morning, everyone heard they could go to breakfast in the great hall and that they found out that classes has been cancelled so the aurors could questioned the students. Dumbledore did tell the students that all the staff had been questioned the night before. Even though most just took that news like any other news, some looked nervous. It was when the headmaster explained how one of the professors and the other students had been attacked that had the rest of the students worried.

He explained that six Slytherin students, four Ravenclaw students along with Professor Snape had their minds destroyed. The aurors believe that someone used the cruciatus curse on them. At the moment, students were restricted to the great hall until after they have been questioned. The headmaster wanted all the students to remain at their house table until called. Once the student has been questioned, they were free to go anywhere they wanted.

When the first twenty students were called by one of the aurors, Hermione removed a book from her bag, but she also removed Ron's chess set.

'I didn't even think of bringing something down here, thanks Hermione,' Harry said as Ron began to set up the board.

'Once I noticed they were taking the older students first, I knew we would be here for a while. I also knew you two finished your assignments, yet I knew you wouldn't read a book unless it was for class.'

'I like reading Hermione but after reading so much for class, I really don't want to read anymore. It makes my eyes hurt,' Harry said.

'When was the last time you had your eyes tested?' Hermione asked.

'Um, what do you mean, tested?'

'You have seen an optometrist, haven't you?'

'No.'

'Where did you get your glasses?'

'Aunt Petunia found them in a second hand shop.'

'Oh Harry, they are probably making your eyesight worse. You aren't supposed to wear someone's glasses. I think you should speak with Madam Pomfrey, if she can't help, speak with Professor McGonagall about having your eyes examined.'

'At least that explains the headaches,' Harry sighed, 'Be right back Ron. Madam Pomfrey is still at the staff table.'

Hermione, Ron and a few others watched Harry as he spoke to the matron. He saw Harry hand his glasses to Madam Pomfrey who began to cast some type of spells on them. Hermione instantly noticed that the matron did not look happy before she handed the glasses back to Harry. He returned to the table.

'What did she say mate?' Ron asked.

'She's going to do a full examination on my eyes after I've been questioned. She didn't want me to have these back but I can't see a thing without them so she had no choice.'

'So your aunt never took you to see an eye doctor in the muggle world?' Neville asked.

'No, she's never taken me to see any doctor. Madam Pomfrey is the only medical person I've seen and that's when I end up in one of her beds.'

'Oh my, you haven't been vaccinated, have you Harry?' Hermione asked.

'No, Aunt Petunia took Dudley, but she refused to pay to have me done.'

'What about here? We're all vaccinated at the age of seven,' Ron said, Neville nodded.

'I didn't know we had to,' Harry said.

'Professor McGonagall explained some of the wizarding worlds diseases when she visited my parents to tell me about this world. She escorted us to St Mungo's where I got three potions,' Hermione said.

'Hagrid never mentioned any of that.'

'Hagrid,' Neville said looking confused.

'Hagrid came to tell me I was a wizard then took me shopping. He forgot to tell me how to get on to platform nine and three quarters, so it's not surprising he forgot about other things. I'll speak with Madam Pomfrey about these potions when I see her.'

'Do so straight away mate. Some of our diseases are deadly,' Ron said with Neville and Hermione nodded.

It took a few hours before the fourth years began to get called by the auror. Neville saw his gran when he left the great hall. Ron's father was there for all his children. Hermione and Harry were directed to Professor McGonagall's office. They had to wait outside the office until they got called in. Hermione was called in before Harry. He figured they might be doing it alphabetically.

Harry heard his name, he opened the door and walked in. He was gestured to sit in the seat beside the desk where Professor McGonagall sat.

'I'll examine your wand first Mr Potter, then I'll asked you some questions.'

'Yes ma'am,' Harry said then took his wand from his sleeve, held it by the tip. He watched the woman cast the charm. Harry was fascinated at the way the spells he used was shown. Once the auror saw twenty different spells, all spells done in his class, she cancelled the spell and handed the wand back to him.

'The only spell not a spell you would have used in class was a cleaning spell for wood,' Minerva said.

'I used that to clean my new broom. Ron and I couldn't help flying, so I kept cleaning it,' Harry shrugged.

'You're wand is clean. Now to the questions. First, how did you feel about those students and Professor Snape?'

'I don't know the four Ravenclaw's, but I hated Snape and those Slytherin's.'

'Can you explain why you hate them?'

'Well, Snape is one of the biggest bullies I have ever met and since he picks on children, that makes him a coward. Those Slytherin's are the ones that usually try to hit us with spells, then for Snape to give us detention when we didn't do anything. They knew they had support from Snape, where we didn't. I always knew Malfoy was like his father so I was always watching him.'

'Mr Lucius Malfoy is an upstanding member of the Wizengamot.'

'He's a killer,' Harry said.

'He was cleared of all charges linking him to being a death eater.'

'I'm not talking about back then, I'm talking about when he tried to kill me at the end of my second year here. If it wasn't for a great little house elf, I would be dead.'

The woman turned to the deputy headmistress, 'Why was my office not notified of this?'

'This is the first I've heard of it,' Minerva said.

'Dumbledore told me no one would believe me since Malfoy is friends with Fudge,' Harry shrugged.

'Professor Dumbledore knows that memories can be used if a crime was committed. If you agreed to allow the Wizengamot to see your memory, no one could have prevented that.'

'Oh, I didn't know that. But how would someone see my memory?'

'We have a way for memories to be shown to a large group of people. They are called projection pensieves. There are personal pensieves where up to four people can go into the memory to see it. If you allow me Mr Potter, I will take your memory, have it examined by an expert, then Mr Malfoy may find himself facing the Wizengamot.'

'Sure, if it means he might end up in jail.'

'I will do that soon. Now back to the questions. Before yesterday when you went to quidditch practice, where were you?'

'Um, on the astronomy tower,' Harry shrugged as he looked down, 'I like the peace and quiet when I'm up there.'

'Did you see any of the students from Slytherin or Ravenclaw?'

Harry looked back up, 'No ma'am, I went from Gryffindor tower straight to the astronomy tower until it was time for practice and I didn't see anyone.'

'Did you see Professor Snape at all?'

'No, but I try not to see him if I can help it.'

'Very well, that will be enough. I will explain how to remove a copy of your memory.'

'Can I ask a question ma'am?'

'You may but I can not guarantee to be able to answer.'

'Well, four muggleborn students were attacked since we returned to Hogwarts yet no aurors turned up. Now ten students were, who happen to be all pure-bloods and there's aurors all over the place. I'm just wondering why the aurors weren't here when the other students were attacked? I mainly asked because Malfoy said many times that he wants the muggleborns gone, he said mudblood, then he said he can make sure they will be gone and he won't get in trouble, his father will make sure of that. This sort of helped me make up my mind about staying or leaving, I decided to leave the wizarding world.'

'We were informed that those first four students were not serious and had minor injuries. I know being raised in the muggle world you might not realise that broken bones can be healed quickly in the wizarding world, but they are, so we are not called for that reason. The headmaster conducted an investigation, then notified us of the outcome. This time was different, these attacks left those ten students with their minds destroyed, along with Professor Snape. This had nothing to do with muggleborns or pure-bloods. I can assure you that if we get proof of a crime, even if its a pure-blood, they will be prosecuted.'

'Oh, okay, that makes me feel better. Um, so how do I remove a memory?'

While Amelia was showing Harry how to remove a copy of a memory, Minerva was going over what the boy said. She could not believe how he spoke about Professor Snape and the students. She also could not believe the boy was going to leave the wizarding world.

When Harry left, he went to see Madam Pomfrey. Amelia and Minerva spoke about the boy.

'His story matches those of Mr Ron Weasley and Miss Granger so Mr Potter is in the clear. I am surprised about what he said. If the public find out that the-boy-who-lived was going to leave, many will call for an enquiry as to why.'

'There is two reasons as to why Mr Potter may decide to leave. Severus was very cruel towards him. Severus and James Potter were enemies when they were students, also, Severus fell in love with Lily Potter. They had a big falling out after their owls. The second reason could be because of Mr Potter's godfather. It seems Mr Potter, Miss Granger, Mr Weasley along with Remus Lupin saw Peter Pettigrew and heard him confess that he was the one that betrayed the Potters and killed those muggles. The three students explained this to the minister who refused to believe them. From what Albus was able to find out, Harry saved his godfather from the dementors and also stopped Sirius Black and Remus Lupin from killing Pettigrew. There was some confusion where Pettigrew managed to escape. Oh, he's a rat animagus, which is how he wasn't seen that night. Miss Granger explained to me that Pettigrew, as a rat, was missing a toe. Again, this goes against Severus. It seemed Severus told the minister that Black confunded the students, yet from what Miss Granger told me, Mr Potter stunned Severus, he was unconscious the whole time so he did not see Peter Pettigrew.'

Amelia sighed, 'I believe I am going to need to see more memories and if what I see matches what you just said, Cornelius will be sitting in a holding cell waiting for his trial. I never wanted to believe Sirius would betray James but I was told he confessed during his trial.'

'He was not given a trial by Bartemius Crouch or Minister Bagnold. Which is another reason Mr Potter may leave. If he had his godfather, he may stay.'

'How did he escape?'

'We don't know but I believe Mr Potter and Miss Granger was involved. They were in the hospital at the time, so there is no proof they helped.'

'Do you know if Mr Potter has seen his godfather since he escaped?'

'From what I've been told, no, since Black went overseas. Whether that is true or not, I could not tell you.'

'I believe I am for a lot of long days Minerva. But at least you know now that no student cursed Snape and the students. I best finished this investigation. I'm sure my aurors have finished questioning the rest of the students by now.'

After Amelia left, Minerva was going to tell Albus what happened with Harry, then she remembered that Amelia was going to officially investigate. No one could interfere with an aurors official investigation, not even Albus Dumbledore.

Once Madam Pomfrey finished examining Harry's eyes, she told him she would be sending him to St Mungo's to pick up a new pair of glasses, ones that were meant for him. Harry then explained what Hermione told her about the immunisation potions.

'Oh for the love of merlin,' Poppy almost swore as she went about examining Harry again, 'Yes, you are not protected. Well, you can have those potions while you are at St Mungo's. I will speak with Professor McGonagall so she can take you there. Now, I will have a house elf escort you to Gryffindor tower because you cannot have these glasses back.'

'Okay, I can put up with being blurry for a while.'

Harry was blurry but the house elf kept hold of his hand as they made their way to Gryffindor tower. Harry thanked the elf before giving the fat lady the password.

'You've been gone for ages,' Ron said.

'After I was questioned by Madam Bones, I went to see Madam Pomfrey about my eyes and those potions. She's sending me to St Mungo's for new glasses and the potions'

'You were questioned by Madam Bones,' Neville squeaked.

'Um, yeah, why's that important?'

'Madam Bones is the most important person inside the ministry, even more important that the minister. She's the head of the department of magical law enforcement, but she also holds seats on the Wizengamot.'

'My dad's department is under the DMLE, so Madam Bones is technically dad's boss, along with others like the aurors, hit wizards and the department of underage magic. There's a few more as well but I can't remember them,' Ron said.

'Were you questioned by Madam Bones, Hermione?' Harry asked.

'No, there was a large dark skinned auror there when I entered the room. I didn't get his name'

'There must be another exit from McGonagall's office because I didn't see a dark skinned auror. Doesn't matter, I supposed but I wonder why I would have someone like her question me.'

'It could be the-boy-who-lived mate. Some aurors might be a bit star struck,' Ron smirked making Neville and Hermione chuckle, Harry just glared at his friend before he ended up laughing with his three friends.

'I hope it isn't long before I can get new glasses, I can't see very well at all. It's just blurs.'

'I'm sure it'll be soon Harry. Right now, you could not see to defend yourself, if you had too. They won't leave you not being able to see for too long.'

'I hope your right Hermione.'

It was only an hour later that Professor McGonagall came to get Harry and take him to St Mungo's. She remained outside the door while Harry saw the healer about his potions and his new glasses.

'Professor, Mr Potter will need to be monitored for the rest of the day to make sure he has no side-affects from the potions. Normally children are fine but that's when they are done from seven to eleven. Mr Potter is fourteen so we're not sure what could happen, if anything.'

'I'll make sure he remains in Gryffindor tower with his friends.'

Harry walked beside his head of house until they got to the floo. He went first, then she followed.

'I must say Mr Potter that those glasses look much better on you.'

'I think the same Professor. Those old things were ugly and Hermione had fixed them so many times I kept wondering if they weren't going to fall apart.'

'Yes, which can happen with glasses from the muggle world. Before you leave, Madam Bones asked me if you would be willing to give her some more memories, of your godfather. I explained what happened and how the minister took Professor Snape's word over yours and your friends. She is going to investigate to see why he was not given a trial. Once she has proof of that, she can go from there.'

'If it will help Sirius, she can see every memory I have.'

'Just the ones that show Peter Pettigrew and Sirius Black. For now, keep this to yourself as it's now part of an official investigation. If you are in contact with your godfather, let him know the basics but that is all.'

'Okay, I want my godfather free,' Harry began thinking of the first memory. He took the vial from his professor and very carefully extracted the memory before placing it the vial. He did the same with the second memory.

'Alright, now, I want you to go straight to Gryffindor tower. I will have a house elf bring your lunch and dinner.'

Harry nodded, 'Alright, thanks Professor.'

Harry made his way straight to Gryffindor tower. Hermione smiled when she saw Harry, Ron and Neville had to make remarks that the girls will be after Harry now he didn't have those old glasses hiding his face. Harry just smiled then sat down.

'I can't leave the tower until tomorrow. The healer said these potions are normally given out from seven to eleven. He wasn't sure if I would have any type of side-affect because I'm older. Professor McGonagall is sending my lunch and dinner here.'

'We'll stay with you mate,' Ron said.

'I'm sure Professor McGonagall will allow us to eat here with you,' Hermione said.

'Do you feel strange or anything?' Neville asked.

'No, I feel fine. I think he was just being cautious since I did have them later than all of you. I don't think there's anything to worry about.'

'Probably not but it's good to be cautious,' Neville said.

The four friends ended up playing exploding snap. Even though Hermione would normally read after finishing her school work, she decided she could play some games with her friends.

The following morning as the friends made their way to the great hall. Harry got a few stares and some smiles from girls, he also got the odd comment, all about his new glasses.

Harry got a message that he had to go to McGonagall's office.

'I'll see you after.'

The three friends watched Harry walk off before they went into the great hall. They were almost finished eating when Harry arrived. He quickly dished up some breakfast before the food disappeared.

'So what did McGonagall want?' Ron asked.

'Um, I'm not allowed to say, sorry,' Harry shrugged but he was thinking of the letter he had to write to his godfather, which McGonagall sent off for him after he left. It was so Sirius could finally get questioned and this time it would be by Madam Amelia bones.

'You can't say anything,' Hermione said staring at Harry.

'No, sorry, at least not yet. I know I will be able to but I'm not sure when. Anyway, we're done our work, we still haven't got any classes, what are we supposed to do?'

'I believe we could read the next couple of chapters of all our books over the next few days,' Hermione said.

'I suppose it's a good idea,' Harry said, 'Then we'll know what we're about to learn. I wonder how long it will take to get a new potions teacher.'

'There can't be many potion master's out there, so it could take a while,' Neville said.

'Couldn't Dumbledore hire someone that was really good at potions but isn't a master?' Harry asked.

'No, it's not allowed with potions. Since a potion could explode if not done correctly, which could mean deaths of students, it needs a master,' Neville said.

'But Snape never stopped the snake's from throwing things in our cauldron's. Any of those could have exploded,' Harry said.

'He probably told his snake's what to use so it would just ruin our potions and not blow up,' Ron said glaring.

'I believe you could be right Ron. So many times all our potions have turned the wrong colour but we know how just having the heat too high can cause the potion to boil over and sometimes spew thick fumes into the air,' Hermione said, 'It's obvious that they weren't trying to make our potions explode, just ruin them.'

It took a week but the story on the front page of the Daily Prophet was about Sirius Black being innocent and Peter Pettigrew was alive. He now had a bounty on his head and wanted pictures were all around the country. It mentioned that Sirius was Harry Potter's godfather who was taking custody of his godson as that's what James and Lily Potter wanted.

The other story that was below the one about Sirius was about Lucius Malfoy being arrested. He was tried and found guilty of multiple crimes, including attempted murder of a child. He got life in Azkaban and half his fortune went to his victims.

Harry was surprised to read that, all Lucius Malfoy's victims will get money. He hoped some went to Ginny or the Weasley's, since she was a victim even if she didn't die.

'That's what I couldn't tell you. Madam bones said it was an official investigation. She took some of my memories of Sirius but the first one she wanted was the one from when Malfoy tried to kill me.'

'They didn't mention you in regards to Mr Malfoy. They probably didn't want to put you in danger,' Hermione said.

'Yeah, even with that pounce gone, there could be children of his friends who might want to retaliate. She explained that my name will be kept out of anything to do with him. It was different with Sirius. Madam Bones and Sirius wanted it known that my parents wanted him as my guardian. No one can stop that, not that Sirius or me would let anyone interfere,' Harry stared at his two friends, 'I don't have to sneak around or lie now, it's allowed.'

'We can see just how happy you are about it. You haven't stopped smiling,' Ron said. 'This money from Malfoy, you'll get some, won't you?'

'Maybe, since he didn't actually do anything to me because of Dobby, I might not be classed as a victim. Um, I had to go into details about the chamber of secrets, so I think your sister will get some. Since she's only thirteen, your parents will have to look after it.'

'He probably had a lot of victims, so it will be divided between all of them. Or the ones that they know about,' Hermione said. 'With how rich the Malfoy's are, each will get a decent amount.'

'Mum and dad might get Ginny to see a mind healer now they could afford it. They wanted to, but mind healers are expensive. Ginny's better but she has her bouts where she's quiet or just staring into space,' Ron said.

'You should have said something Ron. I would easily lend your parents the money, then they could have taken as long as they wanted to pay it back. It's not like I need all that.'

'Mum and dad would never ask Harry. Even if you offered, they would have said no.'

Harry sighed, 'Yeah, they probably would. But you know what, Hogwarts should have paid since it happened here. It should not be up to your parents to pay for something that was caused here.'

'Bill and Charlie said that but mum and dad refused to talk to Dumbledore about it. Let's forget it, especially now that Ginny might get some money that could help her.'

'I hope so Ron,' Hermione said.

Neville knew the Weasley's would get some since it was Ginny that was taken down to the chamber and that was caused by Lucius Malfoy. He also believe Harry would get some since he did save Ginny from the monster in the chamber and Malfoy did go to kill Harry. But he was of the same opinion as Harry, Hogwarts should pay the victims, even Hermione, Colin, Justin and Penny who had been lucky. Those four were petrified for months. Neville also thought Ron should get some since he did go with Harry to help save his sister. He decided to write to his grandmother and go into details about what happened two years ago and how it was Harry, with Ron's help that saved Ginny. He would also write that it was Hermione who found the information on the basilisk so in a way, she helped as well even if she was petrified at the time. It was not the headmaster or any other teacher that helped. His gran just might be able to get the governors to give some money to some of the other victims.

Albus Dumbledore was not happy. He lost one of his professors along with some students that he believed could finally see right from wrong and turn their lives around. Now they wouldn't get a chance since they will never leave St Mungo's hospital, not until they died. He also believed Harry should remain with his aunt but he knew no one would support him in that, especially not Harry nor Sirius. He just hoped Sirius kept his godson safe. Albus still believed Voldemort was trying to return but so far there had been no signs and Severus even said that his dark mark hadn't changed. He would have to occasionally pay a visit to Severus in St Mungo's, just to check the dark mark. If he saw it becoming darker, he would talk to Sirius about more protection for Harry.

When it was close to the Christmas holidays, Harry put his name down to leave, for the first time. His head of house knew straight away that Harry planned to go to his godfather and have Christmas with him. She was happy for both of them. Both had suffered, now they finally had each other.

Hermione, Ron and Neville smiled at the look Harry had as they rode the Hogwarts Express back to London. They knew why Harry was so happy, he was finally going to a home where he will be wanted with someone that wanted him. They were happy for their friend and knew they wouldn't see their moody friend anymore. They finally got a friend who seemed happy, that was something they all wanted, just to see Harry happy.

Sirius was standing with Arthur and Molly Weasley on platform nine and three quarters. When the students began to leave the train, Sirius ended up running towards his godson. He picked Harry up and swung him around, to much amusement from everyone on the platform.

Harry finally got to say hello to Ron's parents before he left with his godfather. He was surprised that they didn't end up at the house they had been staying at, Grimmauld place.

'If you had this place, which is nicer and not so dark, why were we staying at Grimmauld place?'

'This had no wards at all. One bit of magic and the ministry might have turned up. The moment I was free, I hired a warding wizard. He did the basics, then I added some of the Black wards. You can still do magic here and the ministry will never find out.'

'Oh, okay. So a warding wizards do the main warding, then people add more, if they want?'

'Yes, they first inspect the property, then work on how many warding stones are needed. They get carved with things like the muggle repelling ward. They anchor them to the property, then it's up to the owner to do the rest before burying them. That's only done so no one see's a warding stone. If someone like a dark wizard saw the stone, he could take it which breaks all the wards. Those stones are five thousand galleons each and only warding wizards can make them. If people aren't careful, they can be stolen. I'll show you where they are tomorrow. It's always good for the entire family to know in case something happens.'

'I doubt anything will but I get what you mean. So is it just us that will know where the stones are?'

'Yes, Remus is keyed in but so far, that's all. I will eventually key your friends in but as visitors. I don't plan on adding anyone else as a permanent resident. I did offer Remus a chance to live here but he prefers his cabin. You don't have to worry about Albus or anyone else.'

'Good but does these wards keep out a phoenix?'

'Yes, it's one I added. After everything you've told me about what's been going on at Hogwarts, I won't trust that man again. I will work with him if Voldy returns but he doesn't need access to our home.'

Harry couldn't help grinning. Even though he had been living with Sirius since the end of the previous school year, now it was permanent and legal and they had a great home instead of the old Black home. Between the both of them, they were able to make Hogwarts better, hopefully it will mean everything else will get better.

Harry and Sirius spent a few days going out shopping for gifts. Their Christmas was a fun day, with great food that Dobby cooked. Both received gifts delivered by owls. Harry had sent his friends gifts by Hedwig.

It was the day before Harry was due to return to Hogwarts when he received an official letter from the ministry. He had Sirius check it for any type of spells before he opened it.

'Blimey.'

'What is it?' Sirius asked sounding worried.

'I got one hundred thousand galleons as compensation for the chamber and when Lucy tried to kill me.'

'That is a lot pup, a hell of a lot. You would never have to work if you didn't want to.'

'Yeah, it's taken me a while to realise how much a galleon is worth compared to muggle money. But this gives me a few million pounds if I converted it.'

'Which is why I said you wouldn't have to work.'

'No, I wouldn't but I am going do, when I work out what I want to do. I've still got time to figure that out.'

'You do have time, so let's just enjoy our last day together before you return to Hogwarts.'

The following morning, Sirius showed Harry how to use the floo to platform nine and three quarters. He was there before his friends. He got a compartment and had just hugged his godfather goodbye when his friends appeared.

Harry listened to them as they explained about their compensation. Hermione got thirty five thousand galleons for her part in finding the information and being a victim. Ron got thirty thousand galleons for how he helped Harry go into the chamber of secrets. Ginny ended up with one hundred thousand galleons.

'I explain to the Weasley's about the conversion to muggle money and how much they had,' Hermione said.

'We're basically millionaires even if mum and dad will still buy most things in the wizarding world. But they already made an appointment for Ginny to see a mind healer. It's been worked out for Ginny to floo to the Burrow every Saturday morning from McGonagall's office, then mum will take her to St Mungo's.'

'At least she's going to get the help she needed. But this will also help out your family as well even if it was you and Ginny that got the money.'

'I've already given mum and dad half. They weren't going to take it but as I said, fifteen thousand is still a lot of money, especially when I'm still at Hogwarts for another couple of years.'

'That's true,' Harry said.

'Ginny wants to share her lot as well. She talked it over with mum and dad and worked it for Ginny to have half, the other half will be for the entire family. But dad did say if Ginny wanted to keep more, she could. She said no, she said fifty thousand would be enough for her to live on forever if she was careful. Anyway, if Hermione got thirty five thousand, that would mean Colin and the others would get a little less since Hermione was also given some for her help in figuring out that the monster was a basilisk.' Ron said.

'Yes, they would probably get twenty to twenty five thousand galleons,' Hermione said, 'Neville's bound to tell us when we see him. I'm actually surprised to not see him yet we're ten minutes into the journey.'

'I saw him talking to Hannah Abbott when I first got here,' Harry said, 'I've see him stare at her a few times. I think he finally found his Gryffindor courage to approach a girl.'

The three friends knew how shy Neville normally is, but they also saw that he had been changing a lot over the last year. Now it seems their shy and quiet friend might just have a girlfriend, before the rest of them did.

Hermione and Ron couldn't help smiling as they stared at Harry who was talking with his team mates at the Gryffindor table. Harry went from quiet and depressed to a very happy and content Harry Potter. They were happy for their friend and knew now they would not see the old broody Harry. They finally had their friend back.

The end:
