Lana Vs Chloe
When it comes down to it, you have to look at the facts. Chloe, while beautiful and great friends with Clark, is too rational and sensible to actually be with Clark. When she gets offered a job with the Planet, what do you think she will do? Pass up her dreams to be with her hometown crush? Lana on the other hand just wants her freedom from the stereotypic world she lives in. She has been the head cheerleader dating the quarterback for far too long. She needs a sense of self and wants to be more connected to her parent's memories. Clark is just the person to help her do that . She would be willing to stay with Clark no matter where they go, location wise and relationship wise.
If you want to look at proof of how Clark reacts when with each of them, it's like this. When he is with Lana he is more held back, more reserved about what he says and how he says it. This is mostly because of the threat of Whitney looms in the air. Clark just isn't the type of person to "steal" ones girlfriend from them, even if they are "stolen" willingly, forgive the oxymoron. When Clark is one-on-one with Chloe, he never irrationally made the first move, he hanged back and waited until he had some idea that Chloe wanted this, then pounced. He just doesn't have that passion for Chloe, and while relationships work without that type of passion, I don't think a person so passionate about her work as Chloe will feel content with Clark for long.
If you want to talk about passion, which I believe Clark is looking for, Lana is the obvious winner. When she was infected with the Nicodemus plant, she lost all inhibitions, we think. She had enough self control to give fair warning to Whitney but what was the first thing she did when the coast was clear? She headed for Clark. She was wild and sexy and sensual with him and he hesitated not because of her exactly, but he didn't feel comfortable with her still being with Whitney, as far as he knew. Then again, at the windmill, she was so obvious that it hurt me that he didn't take his chance to tell her how he felt. She was egging him on, she was pleading with him. Tell me that doesn't say that she loves him.
I've heard all the arguments before, but as far as I can tell, Lana is the one, the only one that could satisfy Clark, and Clark is the only one who could satisfy Lana. Chloe might be a nice substitute for a while, but she cannot compare with Lana, in Clark's mind. And Clark just doesn't compete with the thrilling action of the news business. Might I add two things. Clark might not have kept every promise to Lana, but he made it better in the end. He took special time out of his life for her. He hasn't done the same for Chloe, which just might be an obvious clue. Another thing that bothers me is that while Chloe has just recently made her interest in Clark, to Clark, obvious, she still conceals her interest of him to herself. Not an interest of him as a person, but as a specimen, a mystery to solve.
So, in closing, I think I've made it painfully clear that in a contest of Lana versus Chloe, it is no contest to Clark. Lana will win. The only reason she hasn't yet is because she is off the market, so Clark had to settle for Chloe. Clark shouldn't have to settle, no one should. In review of the girls actions to get with Clark, Chloe has tried to get him jealous and Lana hasn't done anything that she remembers because she is loyal to Whitney when he was in a rough time. In the end, Clark and Lana are destined to be with each other. Thank you.
