AN- Just a short one-shot about Inuyasha and Kagome and Kagome's views on their relationship and her decision about him. Please review. This is dedicated to a friend of mine, a certain blue umbrella, whom, if she ever reads this, shall immediately know who I am talking about. ^^ You rock.

Kagome sat quietly by the well, lost in quiet contemplation, and treasuring one of the few times she had to herself nowadays with their hunt for Naraku in full force. As they usually did, her thoughts quickly and naturally turned towards the hanyou that was so often by her side now. More often than he realized, actually. She wouldn't rush his decision between her and Kikyou, although she longed for him to choose her. Until he chose her, she would be content to be near him and be his little shard detector, always smiling with an encouraging word. Until he felt comfortable in making his decision, it would be enough for her to simply be near him.

She would do her best to repair the damage done to his heart, whether he knew what she was doing or not. It didn't matter. She would stay slightly behind him, encouraging him, and showing people how good he could be. Just because he was a hanyou meant nothing. She didn't think it was anything bad, and never wanted him to change. After all, as he was, she had seen him destroy every demon they had come across. Until he came to a decision, she would be content to simply be near the brash and arrogant half dog demon. She would never tell him, but having someone to protect, and indeed he protected the entire group, made him stronger and more vulnerable at the same time.

Whether he saw it or not, Kikyou had done more than just break his heart. She had shattered his fragile trust in all people, and Kagome was determined to get him to trust at least her. She would show her that some people wouldn't break his trust, and would always be there for her. She knew that it would take time for his heart to even consider it. Some wounds ran deep.

All Kagome really wanted, and she had known this for a time now, was to stand by Inuyasha and give herself to him completely and forever. She trusted him implicitly, and even, she might goes as far as to say in the privacy of her own mind, loved him. She wouldn't say that to him for a time yet. He needed a friend, and that's what she was there for at the moment.

Until further notice, Kagome would be Inuyasha's friend, and nothing more, nothing less. She would do her best dog imitation, and be a loyal best friend to her stubborn, pig-headed friend.

AN- See? Extremely short. Please review and tell me how to correct anything wrong. I think this is the most in character I've ever been with Kagome and Inuyasha. ^^
